  1. D Coy are coming over from N Ireland Monday to Sunday with our usual selection of Land Rover VPKs, WMIK and RB44. If Kent was closer we'd bring heavier toys and armour! Sent from my XT1039 using Tapatalk
  2. The brake switch on the servo needs to be adjusted very carefully to get it to consistently work, once this is done they normally last about 5 years. The voltage will vary between 24 and 28v and is OK. The worst thing for them is not using the vehicle as the switch plunger sticks through lack of use and cannot be fixed J
  3. Its sitting on a forklift cradle
  4. Cab over engine vehicles are warm, I run my unimog without door tops all year and only pit on the heater for five minutes to demist the windscreen!
  5. Works well did a tank conversion 20 years ago as a test and sealed it with POR 15, its so good I've yet to get the permanent tank made! And it been bounced off the ground on a Leaf spring land rover used every week J
  6. Shes basically a hull with tracks. J
  7. The initial design work for the tank that became the Churchill undertaken by Harland and wolf and some production work was at a small shadow factory on the woodbourne road in carrickfergus, hence the "new" tank to replace the 25 pound gun that was previously at the war memorial. J
  8. Nothing quite like getting a fly in your mouth whilst trying to change down into 3rd on a corner in a 404! Brilliant J
  9. I've been helping filming and providing 4x4’s for 20 years working on major films and TV in my spare time. Due to my skills Ive made some big money rebuilding landrovers to spec and providing logistics but it is very ad Hoc work, usually at ten minutes notice to their demands. I'm lucky in that Ireland has a small film comunity and I'm well known for providing what's needed and being adaptable . If you have one wagon don't expect it to be correct for the TV needs they will want to repaint it and remove all the bits you spent years getting! And it's up to you to drive it, fuel it and guarentee it won't break down! Don't expect to make money, enjoy the experience and IF you turn a profit reinvest it in the vehicle. 10. definately Clansman PDB, can be fitted to 12 and 24v vehicles as its a single outlet type its probably on a 12v vehicle.24v wagons normally had the 3 outlet type or multiples of. j
  11. Are your expanders missing? I've always got them to free up even when the trailer has been on scrap pile for 30 years? J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  12. The anti beer barrel bars fitted to RUC landrovers as standard as in the above photos were fitted to some VPK fitted 109s or Piglets for use in certain areas. The HVPK 109 or Piglet had a heavier version of anti barrel bar fitted as standard. I've seen enough of them over the years. J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  13. They use the same tyre size as the Unimog 404, go to ebay.de and type in 10.5 r 20 reifen and you will get them new or NOS fairly cheaply. J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Depending on the sankey type some eyes rotate others DO NOT it normally says on a plate on the hitch. This is why the vehicle NATO hitch can be locked or rotate to match the trailer, one MUST rotate or you can loose your vehicule and trailer! I have seen it happen several times. I don't think your trailer hitch needs dismantled it either turns or not, try a large bar through the eye and see if it turns. J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  15. A suitable 2 pin plug could be used to supply 24v to the PDB. The number of batteries depends on the mounting, allegedly the army isn't allowed to lift two big batteries for Health and Safety anymore so uses four small ones? Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Answering your questions in reverse. Power comes from the 28v generator and control panel to the rear mounted batteries via heavy steel braided cables. It is then transferred from the batteries to two insulated screw top terminals on the rear bulkhead. the Power distribution box is connected to the terminals via 2 ? shaped hooks and the screws tightened to hold them in place. there is no reason why a stabilised 24v supply cannot be connected to the PDB leads once disconnected from the insulated terminals. j
  17. The TA in N Ireland were using clansman sets last year, admittedly they were overdue their Bowman gear and I had more working sets in the back of the 88 than they had in all their wagons and they didn't really know how to use them! J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  18. POR15 hasn't failed me i made a bespoke rear tank for my Landrover 109 and sealed it with POr15 about 15 years ago. just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter and clean the tank so its spotless. j
  19. A selection of BARVs were bought by the Israelis at least two remain in museums with at least one still running. J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Black one does both parts If only it were that simple, officially all radios were supposed to be mounted on the the Lightweight "Unitary radio station" which contained the radio batteries etc and was craned onto the vehicle. In practice this was a pain and heavy so there were a lot of unit modifications to standard LR 109 dexion to make it fit and radios were mounted on it in a haphazard way. In NI radios were often just placed between the seats and not even mounted to the vehicle Look here for diagrams and a lot of other info about lightweights; http://www.land-rover-lightweight.co.uk/ClansmanE.html j
  21. I'm helping to rebuild a Fox Armoured car and one of the important things for its use on the road is a fully operating intercom. Most of the bits have been collected but we are missing one lead from the top of the slip ring assembly at the bottom of the turret basket to the harness 4 way junction box in the turret. It has a 14 pin female plug on the slip ring end see photos below and a standard british harness plug on the other and a lead about 6-8 feet long, i would assume that similar leads were in use on other 1970's Alvis vehicles. this is a photo of the plug in place on another fox Any help or "leads" on part numbers availability etc gratefully recieved. j
  22. Putting the handbrake on would have helped! J:eek: Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
  23. Just be aware the bofors is unsprung, top heavy, narrow tracked and has a tow speed of about 20 MPh. They do fall over and are a pain to move in a concrete yard at 5 MPh, I wouldn't want to move one to far on a road or on grass. J Sent from my ONE TOUCH 983 using Tapatalk 2
