  2. I have ten new 7.50x20 NDT tires to go on the old girl after im done with the paint over spray....... those are the tires that came with the truck out of the field i found her in:). Deadline has a good point about nos rubber lines,mine were made new to US D.O.T. spec's! Good luck with the project Vulture, hope she turns out in tip top shape when your done. Brad
  3. Im currently replumbing my entire brake system and all braking components because you are only as good as the weakest link, wouldnt want anyone else to find out the hard way. I ordered my hose set from Argentina seem to be correct compared to the old set and built like they knew what they were doing... heres some pictures of my progress Cheers Brad

  5. I was able to have a reporduction made of my rusted out chart holder mounted to the back of my CCKW 353 A1 Cab. Nothing to special but it made my day to see it....just wanted to share Cheers
  6. germans utillized captured equipment often during WWII. In the early days the T-34/KV-1 series was a formitable foe to come across for german units fielding early equipment. Many were used to counter soviet armour.
  7. I think the Boat yard that put the winch on the Back of the CCKW swaped it around some how? Theres no mistaking it for anything else thats for sure. It works well Ive used it to pull stuff for fun..the previous owner cabled the front tow hooks to a tree and tried to pull something with the winch and ripped the truck frame clean off to the front spring shackles:shocked: bumper and all?

  10. I have some pictures of my truck, I just did a complete brake restore and painted all backing plates and drums the hubs and drums were blue.. It does appear to have been repainted Drab Green Again MY trucks SN numbers said she was delivered as a bedless chassis to the Army It has the fuel tank mounting holes of the long narrow tank like a shop van or compressor truck? What do you fellas think? Brad
  11. I used the 3 ton floor jack method and blocked my entire truck up for my brake restore. seemed to be good I put 1 1/8" concrete form pannels under each block point and jacking surfaces though helped plenty!

  13. My truck has the blue as well and upon investigating i was informed that the first coat on later trucks was Blue wich exsplains why its there before the od? I have talked with people state side on forums here,maybe i could find the thread and post it? I love a good mystery:cool2:
  14. Most pictures ive seen of out of the box crate engines and such do support a semi-gloss black for the add-ons.

  17. Hello to all, My name is Brad, Im located in the States On Whidbey Island. Im curently working on my 1944 GMC CCKW A1 CARGO I found her in a field just waiting for rescue. I have joined many groups looking to learn and share about the HMV hobbie. I have posted a link to picutres my junk yard on the signature bottom. I hope to have only one restored GMC when im done here A man can get so carried away trying to aquire parts...I have been doing this for only 3 1/2 years and have learned so much about these trucks over the last few years and hope to have a complete one someday. looking forward to being part of the forum.
