  1. Most of the adds in the parts section have gone as well..... Maybe there in the middle of a clearout.
  2. How about the scene from Kelly's Heroes with the 3 shermans exiting the railway tunnel with the music playing and the guns blazing into the goods yard.
  3. Thank you for your responce Howard. I know I am a little biased towards Diamond T's but I cannot understand why the type is so overlooked by the kit manufacturers. Pat Ware the former editor of HMV has described them as the best looking truck of WW2 and I'm sure a lot of people, owners or not would agree with him. I fully realise that to produce such a kit is an expensive undertaking but so does any other kit and they get produced. As I said in the previous post there is a lot of scope with a Diamond T and it would appeal to modelers with interests in the vehicles in many other applications as well as military, such as heavy haulage, recovery and fairground transport so would have a greater demand than for example (please forgive me Mike) Antars. I for one would be happy to pay £600 for a Diamond T kit, especialy one with the detail and quality that the kit's you produce have. I am sure that far more than 50 people would feel as I do and I would without hesitation, buy what would be a very impressive kit from you. Respectfuly....Steve.
  4. I would have thought a Diamond T 980/1 in 1:24th scale would very much be a commercialy viable model to manufacture. It would have interest from many directions simply because of the amount of uses it was put to in it's time. There is the military, recovery, fairground, heavy haulage even followers of the Austrailian roadtrains would want one as Diamond T's were used as the first practical roadtrain's. In the army they were used by the British, Americans, Canadians, Austrailians, Russians and most of the European armies after the wars end. Just an example of the many many many different variations that I am sure thousands of model makers would love to re-produce. So why why why is knowone producing one ???? So any manufacturers out there reading this I say on behalf of most of the model making and Diamond T owning world PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Produce one (and a trailer) and make a lot of people including me, very happy. Steve.....
  5. Hi again Brad Now you have added pictures I can see your winch definatly looks like it is off a DT 980/981 but I can see 1 difference. The location of the winch drive chain/cog and the box for the winch brake are reversed. If you follow this link and scroll down the page you will see photographs of the winch fitted to a Diamond T to compare yourself. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?9045-Diamond-T-980/page2 http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?9045-Diamond-T-980/page12 Regards....Steve..
  6. Hi Brad. 5M723-B Is the part No for the Garwood winch fitted to a Diamond T 980/981 You will find plenty of photogaraphs to compare in the Diamond T gallery thread on here. The number 12y4524 is the part No for the winch brake case cover located the opposite side of the worm gear case from the winch drive cog. The winch is rated at 40,000 lb which is about 20t's. The cable should be 7/8 ths of an inch in diameter. The 980 winch differs from that fitted the 981 in that the 980 has a cable capacity of 300ft as apposed to the 981 which holds 500ft. Unfortunatly I cannot tell you which of the 2 it is with the information I have but I hope this helps you. Regards Steve....
  7. Thanks for posting the film Tony. It was well worth your efforts and the wait to see it. 11 out of 10 :-D:-D:-D Steve.....
  8. I had a little revenge many years ago. In the early hours of the morning I was going back to our yard to park my recovery truck, when I passed a transit pickup parked next to a fence of a steel stockholders. It’s bonnet was open and a suspicious looking man was standing next to it. He watched me travel past him and was still looking at me until I went around a bend and out of sight. I phoned the police from our yard and when I again went past (this time in my car on my way home) there was 4 police cars with all the blue lights on parked around the van. So on I went with a rather smug grin on my face. The only trouble was when I got home the phone rang and I had to go back to work, The job was to recover a transit pickup for the police. It was bloody heavy as well, loaded as it was with sheets of steel that they had been passing through a hole they had made in the fence of the stockholders.
  9. Ok........:blush::blush::blush::blush: How about this. The palm couplings and the replacement seals for the trailer air lines on my Diamond T's are still made/used today and are available at any commercial vehicle parts supplier. as are the prop shaft uj's, bearings and oil seals. Damm. I just looked at first post and it said Brit vehicle parts......"Dohhhh"
  10. I will say that my friend on the inside is not up on MV types and described them to me as a tank without a turret, having a big door at the back and that more were turning up every day so my 432 description is a loose one.... Steve....
  11. I have not seen it for myself but I got the info from a friend who is working there at the moment. If EMR purchased them from the MOD then it is worth giving them a ring as I have known them to sell parts from and even complete railway items that they have had in the past. It would make sence that this is true. As we all know, the MOD have been selling large numbers of them via Withams but there is only so many that will find buyers before the market becomes flooded and with the price of scrap being what it is scrapping would be a more efficient means of disposal as far as the MOD is concerned. Steve....
  12. I learned today that the MOD are scrapping a large number of 432 ect APC's at E.M.R.'s in Kingsbury. Some have been described to me as looking like new. I'm not sure if I would not get into trouble if I post the location of the scrapping on here but it just seems to me to be such a waste. Steve.....
  13. A method I have used in the past to help as a ground anchor when nothing else is around, is to lift the lid of a rain gully/drain found in many road gutters, then drop a hardwood railway sleeper into it so the sleeper stands on end and wrap a chain around the sleeper at road level. You would be surprised how affective this can be. Steve...
  14. Thank you for posting the pictures Jamie they are realy good. And well done for what you achieved when the pressure was on. I am sure the reception you recieved when you arrived at Weymouth made the effort of getting there worthwhile. Steve....
  15. Many thanks for posting the pictures Jamie. That for me is the ultimate combination. I will have to start buying Lottery tickets again. Steve.....
  16. [quote Anyone got a penknife I can borrow? I think there's something stuck in the tyre tread
  17. Hi Tony. Thank you for your kind comments on my film I'm glad you like it :-D:-D . In answer to your question I will try to explain. Here goes, DVD's are in the wrong format to upload strait from a disk to youtube so you need to copy the disk to your hard drive first to re format the film to an mpeg, which you can't do to the disk. I found this site http://www.winxdvd.com/landing/free-dvd-ripper-02.htm?gclid=CLn1t5GB_KYCFUYifAodtHjnEw to download the softwear to my computer to do it. First download this softwear (it's free:cool2:) then open the program and use it to copy the disk to a file on your hard drive choosing the option of mpeg format when the program asks you. Once you have done that you log on to youtube and go through there instructions on uploading the film from the file you have created of the film on your hard drive and not from the disk. I hope you can follow this as I'm not a computer wizz. If you have a problem don't hesitate to ask but you should be ok. Good luck uploading your film and I'll look forward to seeing it. :-D:-D Regards, Steve.. P.S. The free softwear also has an option that allows you to capture still shots from any part of the the film, that is how I got the pictures that I posted on here.

  20. Just a little concideration for the enemy cos when they see us comming, they'll s**t themselves.
  21. Hi all I just found this on tinternet and I so hope it's true http://www.snopes.com/military/woodbomb.asp If it is true, it's good to see us Brits still had a sence of humour in our darkest hour. :-D:-D:-D Steve....
