  1. I have found a couple of photos which may be of interest, they are from my fathers album. 163761 is being driven along Bismarkestrasse in Detmold, the original photo seems to be one of a set showing views around Detmold with captions in white on the bottom of the photo. The other one is in The Hague, outside the Hotel des Indes and is dated, on the reverse, August 1945. Interesting to see the variation in the markings, presumably the panel is in black with white lettering. I do not know the significance of DS, my father was with the RAF Disarmament Wing. Can anybody accurately identify the make(s) of car and can anybody quote the registration block for these cars? hth David Molyneux
  2. Photographed in a layby on the A432 near Knockdown, probably mid seventies. Any clues as to what it was used for? David Molyneux
  3. John, Re post 15 Does lot number 533 or Lot number 902 mean anything in connection with the Ellard auction? mtia David Molyneux
  4. Among the many items of Ground Servicing Equipment for the Jupiter missile was a "Transporter - Liquid Oxygen". This was a long cylindrical tank trailer with a twin wheeled two axle bogie. I believe this vehicle was also used in the UK in support of the Thor missiles. In RAF service it was used with a Leyland tractor unit. I am aware of the photo on the rafmtd site. Can anybody provide further details - official designation, manual references, dimensions etc? Details of the official colour scheme(s), reportedly red and white, would be extremely helpful. 5. There seems to be a dearth of information on this particular piece of equipment, but this is understandable given the circumstances when it was in service. I would particularly like to establish key dimensions, the number of cylinders carried and their arrangement, any other data would be useful. Does anybody know who manufactured these trailers? Thanks David Molyneux
  6. I have just joined the forum. Having recently retired from Airbus in Bristol I have time to pursue other activities. I have to confess I do not own any military vehicles although I have always been interested in military vehicles, with particular emphasis on RAF vehicles. I have no doubt this interest was reinforced when I was able to visit the vehicle depot at El Firdan in the Canal Zone of Egypt. The father of my best friend worked there and we spent several afternoons in the armoured car lines. We were really spoilt for choice; I guess there are not many people who have sat in a Sd.Kfz. 222, Otter and Morris Light Reconnaissance car all within ten minutes. Happy days but how I regret not borrowing my father’s camera or even noting details of the vehicles! David Molyneux
