  1. Thanks That's the sort of info I need, now how can I buy one for about a tenner? My mate is a Land Rover Mechanic so If I get the RL I will have a root in his shed and see what we can find
  2. That's good then, I was once excommunicated from a local Land Rover club as I turned up to a pay and play day in a a Suzuki, never got stuck and never invited again LOL I do feel intimidated sometimes by some of the people who spend a small fortune on there vehicles
  3. Any top tips for storage around junction 7 of the M62 area? I only have a short term fix so need a long term solution?
  4. Thanks They wont frown upon me as I am not a rivet counter will they? My RL is going to be on an impossible budget so my not be strictly accurate as I have to use my friends Make Do & Mend to even buy it let alone fix it up. Would it be wrong of me to fibre glass the door bottoms?
  5. Thanks So what vehicle should I look out for as a donor for the heater????
  6. How would I add a heater to an RL? Any thoughts?
  7. Looking at buying an RL One insurance co are asking me which club I am going to join? So who should I join?
  8. My licence is c1 vehicles between 3.5 and 7500kg with a trailer up to 750kg? So what will a flat bed RL weigh? What would I pay for a box body? If the engine fell out tomorrow what would I fit instead? Whats the pit falls of converting it to run on LPG?
  9. Thanks but I don't feel it would matter to me as I just want to attend a few shows with it and teach our son to drive on some private land
  10. Help I have been contacted by some one who is thinking of selling his RL. So what should I look for? Its a 1955 petrol flat bed Flux have quoted me £181 fully comp with recovery. I assume this is good? I believe it runs and drives but lights need attention? Should have more details soon. I assume its MOT and tax exempt?

  12. I assume you have tried the Landrover forums? http://www.difflock.com Is excellent as its not full of rivet counters
  13. I would have thought with the correct work they could be put back in to use? The thing people often forget is the age of them, so you have to consider re engineering for reliability. I know the purists wouldn't like it but to me it would be nice to see them back on the road. The tourists loved them Kids have often canoed around the docks with the school water sports and you are told to give way to the Duck! They must be on loads of tourists pictures.
  14. Send them an Email and tell them. I would have thought they had got the best compromise so more people could use it?
  15. I agree Both our kids have to do it at school as they are in the CCF. Daughter has gone one step well a big leap really as she did the Pool Life Guard training with the Royal Navy and passed so she has done a much higher level of first aid and De fib training. I have to be retrained at work every 6 months which I feel is an excellent idea
  16. What a fantastic collection. Unfortunately I can only dream of owning a Scammell. They take me back to seeing them towing Fun Fairs when I was small
  17. I just feel other stuff is better value? I have always wanted a truck, I have had a few Land rovers but never a truck so its on my bucket list next to the Audi convertible!
  18. Still looking and dreaming. What have you got????
  19. https://life-saver.org.uk/ Watch this 5 min video as it may save a life, its the best educational video I have seen in a long time
  20. Thanks Whilst I am a LR fan and our son loves the look of them I just fancy something different, 2K is a massive amount to me so I want to get my best compromise for it. I too have been a victim of rivet counters, both when I had my stationary engine and classic camper van, I feel many people miss the point as I see our hobby as being about keeping old stuff on the road and having fun, whilst some people never use them and brag about how much they have spent. I did once get some grief from a Military vehicle owner at Woodvale a few years ago for having a Camo Vitara but the rest of the group made me very welcome and it was a fun day out as it should be, the organiser just parked me on the end of the military row, next to a really nice bloke with a Bedford TM (? Big Square) camper he sparked my interest really. Oh and I cant ever forget the Bloke from Liverpool who made his own tank ! what a nice guy and what a home made tank!
  21. Sean N Thanks for your comprehensive reply, some very interesting points.
  22. To be honest the more I look the further away it seams. I did see a nice RL recovery truck in spain on Ebay but imagine the cost of bringing that home! I am shocked at how expensive Land Rovers are these days it was only about 6 years ago I bought a non running series 3 out of someones garden for £50! £100 later and a new fuel tank it passed its MOT.
