  1. For those MV owners who might not have heard there has been a‘parting of ways’ in the admin of this event. This info is freely posted on the event Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Project70 As a participant, I understand that all contact data for participants may not have yet reached the new admin team. It may be that MV owners from on here may have paid money to the ‘original’ event, (The General Agency Co. Ltd.) but the ‘new’ admin are not aware of this. The new team have issued emails to all those they know. If you have not heard from the new team I would recommend contact at project70hq@aol.com with utmost urgency. I.e. today. I understand the current admin team also wish to make it very clear there is now no connection between them and Martin Wright and the General Agency Co.Ltd. I’m told a small number of participants have withdrawn due to this situation, so it is the case that there are places for men and vehicles on the tour, however there is no suggestion of the tour being cancelled and the Royal Dutch Army are still backing it 100% and it is back on course forfulfilling the original concept. If you have not indicated interest but think this British centred event may be for you then you need to contact the team at project70hq@aol.com this week. New website for the event http://www.historicaltours.eu/ including confirmation statement from the Dutch Army.
  2. Most of what I post is gibberish, need no help at all! Ta!
  3. Latest I heard down the grapevine (yesterday) was 11 tanks and well over a hundred other vehicles, all runners and moving in convoy. The promised 15 minute event opening barrage by 5.5's and 25 pounders is going to be a one-off worth watching on its own. Yes the Mod Edit and confusion caused by the behaviour of a certain individual has caused a lot of unpleasantness and uncertainty, but I reckon it is time to pull together, rather than bail out, and pay the respects this event is all about.
  4. Thanks very much for that Nick. The I.D. will be added to the dig record. I don't think there was/is any intention to do anything with it except rebury it with dignity at the conclusion of activities :-)
  5. This front axle turned up in the backfill at the bottom of a WW2 vehicle inspection pit at an archaeological 'dig' at a site I know. The marker pole has half meter colour sections on it, so it is going to be off something small. On the lines of a small staff car or Tilly, but I don't know enough parts to identify it at all. There is no reason to believe it is from anything other than a WW2 military use vehicle. But of course impressed civvy ones are quite possible. It would be good to be able to put a correct label on it for the 'finds' record! :-)
  6. Right, but he did say - 'I'm basing it on the 37 pattern bd uniform and aiming for a look the would represent the D Day unit or units.' Hence my thinking about that particular reference.
  7. Quite happy to stand being corrected as I'm still learning this stuff myself, but wouldn't the D-Day artillery under 30 Corps actually have had the 50th Infantry Div. patch, they being the operative unit? Thinking that only later (E.g Operation Market in September) was artillery directly assigned. Using this site as reference. http://www.ra39-45.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/form/page2.html
  8. Make sure the guides on offer match in design the ones you have. When I had an MW I bought a set and they turned out to not match/fit. Had to buy a second set.:-(
  9. In fairness this does not sound 'on'. It has always been billed as 'one price for all'. I would challenge it mate.
  10. A surcharge? That really ought to be made clear on the issued schedule. There is no mention of one on the document from the Project HQ that I am looking at :undecided:
  11. Are you aware that a revised Ferry Schedule is now circulating that offers a Friday sailing option? For some, this will be useful as it means one less day off work. There are still the same two return days of the Sunday and Monday night sailings. Looking at what I have seen of the proposed schedule of events, the Monday sailing seems a better option if time is not an issue. Going by what will be taking place on the Sunday.
  12. Sorry, should have added the tins are about 8 inches square on the face with the label on. Quite a bit smaller than standard fuel cans. But quite willing to accept they are for smaller amounts of liquid. Two different styles of stopper, neither of which is the easiest thing to unfasten :-) Thanks very much for the input so far.
  13. Came across these containers of obvious military origin. No obvious residue to give a clue. Possible point of interest is that no two tins have exactly the same contract details on them. All similar, but not the same. Any ideas? Over to you.
  14. As per pics on this thread http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?44792-What-were-these-used-on It seems I have a 1953 radio battery in a box, new and unused surplus to requirements. Scabby exterior but pretty mint inside. If you might be interested make me an offer via PM, otherwise wait for it to go on ebay in a couple of weeks. Someone on here is bound to have a use for it.
  15. As the man said '.....send an email to project70hq@gmail.com' Worked for me.
  16. Thanks for that gents, much appreciated! Looks like one for ebay then :-)
  17. OK, I know its a battery but I have not seen one of these 'built in an ammo box' ones before. Is it of vehicle or radio origin? Seems brand new, never been filled. Packing still in the top. 6 volt. Dated 1953.
  18. There is nothing wrong at all with the traditional products such as Grangers Fabsil. An alternative that does the same job is the building product Thompsons Water Seal. Per 5L tin it works out about £10 cheaper, - if cost is an issue.
  19. Have none of it Bob, I'll give you £350 for it no quibble :-) And your bus fare home.
  20. When is your list of vehicles etc going on your site? Getting close, and it'd be good to know what is in store.
  21. Two Land Rover ambulances on the back of a civvy low loader heading North on the M1. One in Gulf?Ghan? colours the other more trad green stuff. Couldn't get a clear view due to box vans in the way. Looked like ex-sales items. Anyone on here bought them?
  22. Less than impressed that all the shows are in the south of the country. Can't believe the lack of thought there.
  23. Regarding the Guzzi, have you searched the Moto Guzzi Owners (GB) site? There may be some V50 owners on there. You could join and post a question if a search doesn't throw up an answer. Much more likely to find the info there than here.
  24. Although I agree with the principal of flushing an engine out, I'd be hesitant to flush an engine that is running fine so close to a major event. It is not impossible that removing a few decades of crud will open up a few leaks that otherwise had been holding well. In an extreme case, thinking about one I know of, even cause a drop in oil pressure due to opened up 'tolerances'. Straight SAE30, low detergent such as the stuff Morris Lubricants supply is what you need.
