  1. When out with the Land Rover I tend to wear clothes, as they are more comfortable than au naturel on vinyl seats especially on a hot day, but a HMVF flag might work instead. Mike
  2. Jack Not a problem. Yes that would explain it an upside down one that places it much lower. Mike
  3. Must be mounted opposite way up with cable coming out the bottom then, but I would have thought it would still be visible. Mine is like this and pushes the extended air filter up higher than the one at Blanchard'sand cannot come down as far forward. Hence my comment on EMLRA Mike
  4. Nice But surely it only works in one place Mike
  5. Oh yes at long last a use for that high price electronic device you dropped and broke. Who said there are things modern technology cannot do?
  6. There is one other thing I have found. I have, for example, a paper copy of Batty Sheene's biography, I can lend it io anybody and trust they will return it. I also have a load ot Cliver Cussler and Tom Clancy novels I can do the same with. The worst that can happen is I do not get it back. Now the only way you can borrow my Kindle books is if I give you access to my account with password, credit card details in it. Yhere is no way that is happen, sorry folks but regardless there are things that you need to keep control of. However it seems the USA has a lending library system, so what about the rest of the world? Which is a real PITA as I used to book share with a couple of people at work. I suppose that is the sign of progress to make people more independent or is it insular? Mike
  7. Personally I think there will be a market for both. I have a tablet thingy which I use for reading books. You know a novel which does not have pictures. Mind you some of the new e-versions of novels are more expensive than the paper version. Obviously the price of pixels will take over from oil. I still like having a real book for the real things (non-fiction) especially if it has lots of pictures and it is something real. A book is much better if you need more than one or keep having to jump around pages to cross reference stuff. More importantly when dropped on the floor the book still works. Not only that you do not see many reports of people being mugged for the hard/paperback book they are reading at the bus stop/station. Mike
  8. I have Britpart ones in mine and they seem to be holding up OK They were not expensive either was around £75 for the lot IIRC Mike
  9. Quite agree lots of things have been faked in pictures and have actually become historical and famous. The Cottingly Fairies and the Loch Ness Monster all are now part of our history. Not forgeting all those plywood and inflatable tanks and planes we had in WW2. Mike
  10. Interesting one of its undercarriage legs has dropped off. 6 propellors. 4 very small engines and 2 really big ones.Suspect it is a biysa on string. What is that infront of the hanger on the ground? Mike
  11. Can definitely say they are cameras. The one on the left looks like a hand held aerial recon type. The others are machine gun cameras, probably used for training aerial gunners. I like this WW1 era version http://www.forgottenweapons.com/accessories/hythe-mk-iii-gun-camera/ Mike
  12. I think you may find it has been sold. Looks remarkably like one posted up as just bought by a member of the EMLRA forum. At least they have almost identical paint jobs lights etc. It was a GS. There are a few clues to not an FFR in the picture. No sign of ever having rear antenna brackets or the cable boxes on front wings. You can see a few FFR traits on my slow resto thread here http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?18120-Land-Rover-Series-3-109-FFR-rolling-restoration As for what to look for chassis and rear x-memeber and bulkhead are as you mentioned the rot areas. Clive has some vexcellent articles on the ignition and charging side over in Clives Corner on the forum (All charged up and ignition matters) Very useful and I would have been a bit lost without them as mine was partly butchered. Finding parts does not seem to be a problem with most bits being readily available. However if the truck is missing the battery box for the radio and radio table these can be very difficult to lay your hands on. Oh and my truck runs on unleaded and as far as I am aware is a standard head. Mike
  13. That is correct, your vehicle load can be as high as you like. However, conversely, there are no minimum heights for bridges, trees, cable etc. Motorway bridges are generally 5.1m clear. But check your paint layers. Mike
  14. Are the 2 Anson's going to be flying in formation? That will tempt me to pop up for a visit. Sadly can only manage a 2000 Astra 1972 Land Rover Always enjoy my visits to Old Warden Mike
  15. You think that was nerve wracking, wait till you have to go solo. Did that in a glider (powered) when I was 16, now that was nerve wracking. Sadly no money to keep up with it. mike
  16. Yes that looks like the Bishops Stortford turn off, but according to the sign 3 lane motorway is disputable as the inner lane is clearly defined as an off lane and the other 2 straight on and it does go off droppimg the main road down to 2 lanes through the junction and remains 2 afterwards. Did it on the way to Duxford last month. Possibly a slightly premature overtake, where is the traffic officer Mike
  17. I thought you ight have mennt this one http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=93XbnuFIk8FfYM&tbnid=QU4zKBHdGPp6QM:&ved=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fjetphotos.net%2Fviewphoto.php%3Fid%3D7063397&ei=kPbWUceWKcT70gXFnIEo&psig=AFQjCNG4Cl6a-IFtCaVKdlve2fFaxVw6xQ&ust=1373128720730292 Mike
  18. Jack Are you sure you have not already had your lesson:shocked: Mike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUUg8XbSmn4&feature=player_detailpage#t=0s
  19. But are the wheels welded on:D
  20. Had a busy weekend as I also went to the Dunsfold open day on Sunday. Yes loads of Land Rovers plenty in green and sand. So here are some pics of the more interesting ones. This Series 1 had only left military service 2 weeks prior to the show. It was being used by the REME as a training aid. Some of the collections military stuff. Another of their recent additions a R-WMIK+ with its top secret armour. The secret of the armour was revealled during a talk. Yes it is plywood (after all it is a replica) An Australian 109 by a visiting display Mike
  21. I must apologies as it seems I have been seriously naughty and forgot to post some pictures of Land Rovers so I better put that right/ Mike
  22. A few more on the taxiway in colour though (well mostly green) Including a Humber and a backwards Champ and a static mobile control tower. Mike
