  1. Impressive and such a useful tool, it seems to hold its own with the bigger units yet is much smaller. Very handy for those awkward to get to jobs. Just out of interest, what are the specs ? A tour would be nice 😎
  2. An interesting read about James "Paraffin" Young. James 'Paraffin' Young - Historic UK (historic-uk.com)
  3. Good idea ! Make it a bit more prominent. It would have to be "policed" to avoid abuse but no doubt much will end up on Facebook. Maybe watermark HMVF on files if pos. 🙄
  4. And of course Chieftains or Abbots. I somehow don't think these are seriously destined for Ukraine so why say so ? I do wish Nick success and the situation is ridiculous but the wanted list is a bit odd.
  5. Ignoring the debris and dirt it does not seem too bad. A good strip down and clean will make a big difference. (Easy to say just looking at pictures 😌). Definitely worth a separate thread !
  6. Yes, they look fine on there. They just look narrow compared to the original ones on the Perentie, but then I have not tried any on a rim. I'll give that a go to see if it makes much of a difference.
  7. Thanks Mike, I had hoped to use these but they just won't look right. Maybe be ok as spares, there are three of them. Looking ahead it may be a choice of trying to source originals, made in Indonesia, or just use a suitable all terrain or mud terrain tyre and not worry too much about originality.
  8. Hi Ben Yes we want pictures ! 😉 If you start a thread about your Scorpion I am sure the guys and gals on here will be of great help! A wee intro as well maybe ? Iain
  9. Hi All, Has anyone experience with the Deestone 750 x 16 Extra Grip lookalike tyres? I ordered some to replace tyres on my Perentie but the profile is different. As can be seen in the pictures the tread width is 7 1/2 inch on the originals and 6 1/2 on the Deestones. Not a lot of difference but it is very noticeable, although I have not fitted one to a rim yet. I was fully expecting them to be the same as they are the same size/profile (750 x 16 ), or is that not a given? Not the best of pics sadly!
  10. Just a thought but how about companies that make the RAF ww2 style flying jackets, they might be able to help with a reasonable version. Or at least point you in the right direction... Irvin Flying Jackets - Handmade Sheepskin and Leather Jackets (flying-jacket.com) Sheepskin Flying Jackets| Flying jackets in 3 styles| Made to order in England by us (british-sheepskin.co.uk)
  11. An interesting and well made overview of tank firepower from the Tank Museum. With a little mention of C3 at the end... I do feel the Centurion and the 105mm gun (L7 ?) would have been worthy of mention. It is a general overview though....
  12. An update on the new turret being built by Pearson and Responsive engineering in the Armstrong works. Challenger 3 demonstrator turret structure released to RBSL - Pearson Engineering (pearson-eng.com) Maybe we should be upgrading all C2 instead of a few! If we were to need more we should have the capacity to design and build a complete MBT plus systems, plenty of heavy engineering firms such as JCB, Terex etc. that could step up if required. I still have faith, just. 😌
  13. Would that give a parking slot for the BV cable and then give an output for something else ?
  14. I have checked some other cables that are unused and the plug orientation varies, one is set at 45deg to yours and I have one with a straight plug and the socket end has a 90deg back-shell. They may be different part numbers but so much for keeping originality. It does not seem to matter.
  15. You could open the box and rotate the socket, that would keep the cable original and you could use any other bv cable. To rotate the plug it is quite easy except for pulling the wires through the rubber grommets. Please see the pictures. It all comes apart once the wires are pulled through the grommet you can rotate the 90deg back-shell tacking care not to rip out a wire. They are soldered to buckets that you can get to after pulling away the other rubber grommet at the plug. Use lots of lube (Hellerine if you can get it) and just take you time working it a bit at a time. The back-shell keys onto the segments you can see on the smaller inner ring so there are loads of positions it will lock into. Hopefully that makes some sense....ðŸ˜ģ
  16. Still, not a bad result! It seems to be getting a charge, good so far.
  17. The best kind of problem to have when it can instantly be fixed. Main thing is it does not make the reading inaccurate it just indicates in the wrong sense.ðŸĪŠ Is the reading 12.5v normal for this at idle or does it increase with some revs? Normally I would expect around 14v. (from an alternator.)
  18. In collaboration with the manufacturer of the Leopard and with a new version of the Leopard/Abrams gun. They will be the best out there, apparently, so good we only need a few of them..ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ
  19. They will be built from (148?) Challenger 2, with a new smoothbore gun, turret and systems by a BAE Land Systems/Rheinmetall consortium. Challenger 3 - the British Army's new main battle tank is coming | The British Army (mod.uk)
  20. The Turks have closed access to the Black Sea for military vessels and the Admiral Kuznetsov is stuck in drydock and may not sail again. After a series of mishaps, falling dockside crane and at least two fires it is unable to be moved out of drydock for fear of sinking. It's knackered. The mighty Russian military machine is not as mighty as they wanted the world to think.
  21. Or was it agreed earlier to make it easier(give them a push) for Germany to release Leopards...
  22. Yes ether capsules, look a bit like Nespresso coffee capsules. Only ever needed them in the artic when down to -30 and below. ðŸ˜ģ Used in a lot of diesel vehicles, my Eager Beaver has one too. If you really need to you can just take the cap off and squirt a bit of easy start in to make a puddle and with the cap back on by pumping a few times it should reach the engine intake. Should not need it and I would not want to.
  23. Better to keep it all closed up if using silica gel, an air current will just saturate the gel for no benefit. An enclosed space is best, maybe open it up once a week or so to swap bags around.
  24. Possibly silica gel, if so it can be re-used, once dried out again. Any supply of silica gel should work and can be dried out in the oven or just when stored in a warm dry place. This kind of thing maybe. 2x 1kg Reusable Car Dehumidifier Condensation Moisture Damp Absorb Silica Gel 5037409111438 | eBay If you can get industrial quantities as used in containers I am sure it would be more cost effective...
