  1. Selling my Land Rover Perentie. Due to lack of use and my eye on something else. In fantastic original condition and amazing spec and with only 30570 km on the clock ! This is an extremely rare vehicle in the UK and with a better spec that a Wolf with the Isuzu 4BD1 3.9l engine. There will not be another in this condition ! I have driven around 3k ( Almost half was the journey home from the importer in Milton Keynes) in the last 6 years and have spent most of the time cleaning and painting the suspension and overhauling brakes etc. Not that it needed it. Picture was taken in better weather than we have now but it has not changed. More to come !
  2. I have absolutely no knowledge of these vehicles but later trucks such as CUCV used holes in plates at the tow hitch to hook the chains into. It could be a backing plate folded at the bottom to give two holes on the flat. If that makes any sense... Or, two loops welded onto the bottom of the backing plate, I think a MUTT I once had used that.
  3. Fantastic stuff and what an effort. I and others are not on Facebook so this is good to see on here, the more the merrier. Keep it coming please !
  4. Just a thought that may already have been mentioned. There have been adverts selling BMP 1 track lately from Poland I think. Do you know if that would be a possibility ?
  5. True, it will not show a failure of the LED as the resistor will still be developing a current. But then the chance of a failure in either is remote especially compared to an incandescent bulb. As far as an MOT is concerned there will not be a warning light and the indicators should be working. Should not be a problem.
  6. Here is a kit on eBay, there are many others but it gives you the idea... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134799774909?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&_trkparms=ispr=1&amdata=enc:1UyByeFvSS9GmUSP2fU-yRw9&customid=CjwKCAiAzc2tBhA6EiwArv-i6ZMz2kjjbHH86XBqZ_89nXCAAkAeGI7SxSZsRzISZTQ2KuWX_0xzfhoC9XQQAvD_BwE
  7. Simple but effective for the time I suppose.
  8. Looking closer at them it looks like a tube rather than cable, so a simple voice-tube system. Never seen that in use, or the vehicle fit and certainly no a/c I have worked with. Strange....
  9. Here is one of the batteries, 3 would have been fitted under the driver and passenger seats. They are metal clad, you can see rust around the bottom.
  10. What do these plug into I wonder ? Were they used on the 432 ? Does anybody know...
  11. Here are pictures of mine during rebuild. The 24v alternator was I think on the nearside, I could be wrong as its been a while ! The nearside is not in position but you can see the mounting brackets. As you can see they are both readily accessible, even with the bodywork in position !
  12. I am not sure if they all had 24v systems but mine certainly did. So, a 12v alternator and a 24v alternator same as 24v FFR Landy's. The battery I will check as I think I still have one unless someone beats me to it ! I have many pics from the rebuild I can use to show the fit !
  13. There are plenty of replacement LED headlamp units out there including vintage type replacements from Holden etc. Not cheap though !
  14. Here you go, the light tin-work is very rusty ! Would make a good yard tool or tug ! 😉
  15. Not much £1500 not including post. Pick up only. 😀
  16. Still can be registered historic but you are right it needs an MOT as do all post 1960 ! I don't want much for it though...😉
  17. I am in Aberdeenshire Near Macduff and have a rusty Militant Mk3 Recovery. Mostly complete. Needs a caring home or will be broken down later this year most likely.
  18. Do you still have all the parts and kit to return it to original ! It may help.
  19. The ones for sale new are plastic, the MoD issue ones I have from 1998 are steel. I would hope that more are around but all new manufacture seems to be plastic.
  20. Here you go an Ashtree mirror as described and MoD issue. It is 7" x 5".
  21. It's a bit odd looking around at Clansman equipment for sale. Some items still turn up from the likes of Withams years after the "last ever" sales. For D10 cable it used to be everywhere and if you bought a vehicle from Withams for example the loose kit would likely have some reels of it. I have seen today an advert for radio remote kit including D10 wire at 50p per meter ! Nuts considering the reels are around 800m or more. Where has it all gone...🥴
  22. Just search E bay for D10 cable and you will find some bags at £10 from Anchor and loads more.
  23. Just ask on here to start with, it's quite common and many folk will have some lying around.
  24. Nuts, I have seen a request by a new "Defender" owner for insurance cover. Land Rover came back and recommended their own company. They replied with a refusal to cover him. There were no extenuating circumstances, you could not make this up.....
