  1. so if i take a chair and use it inside im ok but take it out side to sit im breaking the law ??

In the case of living vans, they are classed as unladen as long as they carry only personal effects for use within the van.

Anything else like tables and chairs, gazebos, barbeques, for use outside are deemed to be goods, and aren't allowed when towed by a historic class vehicle claiming tax exemption.

I forget the criteria for living van test exemption, but they can be, it is weight related, like over/under a certain weight.

  3. Call that an Explorer, naw,---- this is an Explorer.

The secret weapon for REME no-one talked about, the turbo-driven go-faster one-off Scammell.

Not sure whether FVRDE had a hand in it, but the idea was to hold all that power in check and to keep the front end from lifting under acceleration.

Special sideboards to smooth wind-resistance and a roof aerofoil which doubles as a cargo box if required.

The raised hatch on the rear acts as a parachute, deployed from the cab at will, for braking!

It didn’t catch on, so, I believe, only one was made.

The shape of the sloping exit rear board suggests it was possibly amphibious, too!

  8. Hi Andy, this chassis No would suggest early 1943. I have one with chassis no 5696 which has been confirmed with its build sheet as May 1943. I think it would have gone to the MoD from the factory.

    Hope this helps,

    ian

yes thanks ian we got 1947 from the date of first reg so new in early 43 and demobbed around 25 july 1947 from where can we obtain the build sheets?it would be good to see them as it has no body or crane so itll be good to see how it left the factory it does have the winch and m ounts of a hiab/ atlas type crane andy
