4. Oy, we do not have unwashed in Dorking great or otherwise  Looks a whole lot better for the wash and brush up, well done Rick!
5. Nice story! I hope you can enjoy your fine vehicle soon.
6. Hi Rick, I had to leave while you were still digging it out, is it still at the winery? If it is I will drop up to have a better look.
7. There is Boar hill between coldharbour and North Holmwood which I believe is still in use, we used to collect bullets from the sand pits at Milton heath between Dorking and Westcott as kids 50 years ago, it was a wartime range. Yes extremely like that, what a great start!
8. Interesting question, when I arrived the low loader was parked a bit away from the dig site and on the swan neck was sat a turret that looked to me very similar to the type used on the Covenanter, I knew it was not from the one in the ground as it is well known that it doesn't have one so is there already good news there?
9. I went to have a look at the hole in the ground, Rick has, at time of writing, dug along both sides to the bottom of the tracks and along the back, pulling out a length of track and much rusty metal. He announced at one point that another 20 minutes and he would be needing the prime mover to winch it out! Then the BBC got into the hole..... 25 minutes later.................. The experts in the meantime were deciphering the markings on the back of the tank, I will leave them to report what they discovered as I was just being nosey and looking over their shoulders. Sadly I had to leave before the winching began but there are plenty of cameras around so expect to see some good video and pictures.... the battery on my potato phone went when I tried to take a couple for posterity .
10. This popped up in my youtube channel and I thought it worth sharing. More here
11. Came across this and thought I would share. https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ab0_1492745646

14. It is one of my go to threads, keep on posting!
15. My uncle has a garage full of "stuff" and somewhere in there is a coventry climax pump, I remember seeing it when I was a teenager. I asked recently if he still had it he says he has but it is in bits..... now I don't know if the engine is in bits or the pump is in bits, I will ask when I see him, I will also ask if he will consider selling it, he is never going to do anything with it as he is in sheltered housing a long way from the garage.
16. There will be loads of folk watching and reading but will have nothing to add, other than....
17. Fantastic! I know exactly where you are coming from when an simple idea enters your head and grows with the thinking, I once started to build a simple "birmingham piddler" for my son.... it ended up as a fully blown showmans tractor complete in every way. Keep us up to date with progress
18. Is that a punt gun that they are all studying? Nice pictures
19. Thanks for the links, some very good photo's with lots to identify and think about. One photo in particular for me was the dual cross slide copy lathe with the bomb casing in the chuck..... That lathe is probably 3 times the size of the biggest I ever used.
20. Hi and welcome to the forum, I am thinking Humber snipe. (beaten by a couple of minutes by monty
21. Thanks for looking at it Enigma, it now seems to be working ok, that will save me some time
22. Over the last couple of days I have been using the Personal mail and have a weird problem... anythingiwritecomesoutlikethis...for some reason the space bar is ignored, first time it happened I put new batteries in my keyboard but no change. I have had to resort to writing my PM's in word then copy and paste into the message. Anyone else had this problem?
23. I found this while trying to track some info down. http://www.surreylife.co.uk/food-drink/best_surrey_wine_and_vineyards_albury_denbies_godstone_greyfriars_high_clandon_and_painshill_1_3570523 [h=2]Denbies Wine Estate[/h]Dorking Named: Duncan McNeil Role: Vineyard manager Tell us something people probably don’t know about your vineyard/wines… The vineyard also hides a wartime secret: there are World War Two tanks buried here. We are currently looking into the possibility of excavating the site this year. The article is dated Nov 2015, maybe this is the man you need to speak too?
24. Only the upper turret one, the plane nose dived straight in so a lot of it went deeper than they could safely dig. The historian gave me some unfired bullets from it that he had made safe... they were all crushed and bent but to me they were as good as gold If the winery is still owned by someone who's name begins with AW I know someone who's mum was his PA for many years, could be an in, I will inquire.
