  1. Welcome aboard :-) Chris
  2. As a dealer I can tell you that I have never had one that would chamber a round. According to the Birmingham proofmaster it has always been part of the deactivation specification. Plastic furniture ones are usually cheaper than wood furniture. British and Australian are usually worth mpre than Belgian and Argentinian models. Regards Chris
  3. Good find- and not just for tents, the site has all sorts of interesting WW2 equipment. Chris
  4. I have done my Jeep as US Navy and I dress as a US Navy Sea bee. I have found that so few re-enactors do USN that you can actually get genuine gear cheaper than other people are paying for repro Army gear, whether it be US, British or German. :-)
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I think it must be my dynamo charger that is not working. There is no drain on the battery that I can find- the battery seems to be at 11.7 constantly when the engine is running. If I take a lead off, the engine stops instantly. I did however find a bad earth connection and have replaced the negative lead from the battery. When I checked the voltage from the charger/dynamo, that was again 11.7, sop I assume I was getting a battery reading. Thanks Again Chris
  6. Thanks for that information- I shall give it a try. Much Appreciated. Chris
  7. I have a Willys MB that I purchased 18 months ago. It has been changed to 12 volt. It starts up first time when the battery is fully charged. Over a period of weeks the battery seems to lose its charge. (It starts up ok, I take it for a drive, but once it is switched off it will not start without a jump or push starting, then it runs alright until I have to stop again) I thought it must be the battery so I purchased a new one, but the problem is still there. According to my meter there is voltage coming from the dynamo - is it possible that it could still be set up for 6 volt charging through the voltage relay? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Chris
  8. I Have done quite a bit of research on this subject, as Ihave a Jeep, and I 'do' US Navy. It would appear USN Jeeps were only blue/grey Stateside. Everywhere else they were o.d. Cheers Chris
  9. Welcome on aboard Chris, good name. Chris ( not in his 20's )
  10. Hi for wooden replicas try Relics 01323 846007 Chris
  11. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.
  12. Thanks for the info about how to post the picture. Here is a picture of my jeep
  13. Tim , good picture .. Iwill try and model myself on the tall handsome bloke at the back, wearing the peaked cap. I don't think the Dixie cup would suit me. John, We bought the jeep as fully restored, and , I quote no expense spared, original parts used wherever possible last May. Since then we have spent £1,500 plus and still have a little way to go. Fortunately it hasn't cost me anything for labour. I tried to post a picture, but as yet have not worked out how to do it. I will confiscate the wife's secret hoard of hobnobs for Berni, as she is not supposed to be eating them as ATS uniforms always come in small sizes.
  14. Hello, My name is Chris, I live in North Yorkshire. I have a Willys Jeep 1943 and do re-enactment as US Nvay Construction Battalion. We call our group Sons of Beaches. Fortunately my wife is into the hobby as well and does ATS. Chris
