  1. as i stated in previous posts consultation is aimed at lack of harmonization between member states as regards to mot exempt HGVS, a ferret is in no way shape or form a hgv hence my interest in the consultation ...as for your example about getting a mot on a mot exempt ferret , well that piece of paper will prove what? the testing station has tested a mot exempt vehicle ? /tested iaw what, class 4, class 7, hgv what? then the coup de grace , you will mot a mot exempt ferret but not insure a house! ( not sure what the comment about one freet owner?who cant even drive his let alone maintain it has got to do with this)
  2. for book read chickenhawk by r. mason very good about a huey pilot.
  3. truckers go slow few years back about 80 p a litre ! going up 3p a litre 1 apr.
  4. did read somewhere that the blueing technique used 150 years has been lost , think charcoal was used in some way ferret fixxer might know.
  5. sorry to disagree but you say the only reason we are arguing is a cost issue , not true , as a ferret owner i started this thread after getting a letter from vosa saying my ferret was exempt but there was a consultation going on .the consultation document is aimed at exempt hgv,s however as we know other NON targeted mv,s may get caught up in this. a ferret has always been mot exempt as classed as a motor tractor ,people who have mot ,ed there,s have to my mind wasted there money.
  6. hi mark all looks good, just to reiterate a point, purpose of consultation was to remove exemption from hgv based vehicles, ferret, fox, saladin, sarracen etc, as has been discussed before, are clearly not hgv based therefore unfairly caught up in all this . perhaps a new class could be ,, ex fighting vehicles ,, and a consultation group to draw up a list of fighting vehicles that are applicable .
  7. cheers , yep deac bren 303 way to go ,just been lifting out r/h prop cover in ferret lots of fun!
  8. gov operates at i think 3750 rpm.

  11. steve thank you for the link to the site very interesting.
  12. cheers chaps .i reckon as a cost effective ie. cheapest a deac bren would in 7.62 mm be a good choice for the my mk1/2 . can you get deac sa80? the hard bit is getting a mount for the bren.
  13. so that 7.62 could have been fired out of a bren/ browning/ and or gpmg?
  14. so a sa 80 for the smaller one? and for larger one was bren, 30 browning and gpmg all possible for the 7.62mm ?
  15. have managed to bolt bracket back on ,7/16 spanner with nut jammed in it masking tapped to LONG screw driver, bolt and washer thru trans housing, took off access plate on hull, think designed for fuel tank draining managed at fingers length to get washer on then fed spanner with nut thru access hole whilst wifey slowly turned bolt head . all tight now . same access hole that lets you look at fuel pump JUST touch it but not prime it:cool2:
  16. right have now fount two different calibre rounds in ferret largest one has rg85 on base case is 51mm long neck of case is7.8 mm internal so i guess its either a 30 cal or a 7.62 mm ? second one looks like a blank as end where round would be is crimped has rg90 on base and LIAI ,55 mm long o.d of neck is 6.5 mm any ideas?
  17. ah nice one the bracket should be bolted to box yes?
  18. so you reckon two male unions welded on to bracket one each side think im going to have to get a crows foot wrench on it is it 11/16 size?also whats the small bore pipe under neath it for ? cheers.
  19. bit of help needed presently am in process of painting inside of ferret ,have noticed a fuel weep from pipe on l/h side of fuel filter( looking at filter) the pipe travels down and connects onto a bracket that should be bolted to gearbox ,this bracket can anyone tell me is the male union soldered to bracket or is it a one piece union that goes right thru it? sorry for confusing post! ipc is not that clear batt box has to come out to see bracket.
