  5. With all the fancy adhesives around now would they have solved the Dennis loose tyre issue and prevent any further water ingress? As i guess the Dennis and Thornycraft are not very fast. Ps looked up king pin today as always amused at where some English words come from but didn't so far find any origins, but was a term used for the central pivot on wagons.

  7. Seeing the primer on the bolt heads reminded me that you remove the modern stamp marks. How you doing this ie grinding, machining, sanding? It is great to see the level of detail
  8. Time, that would be an interesting thread on its own......... I am a weekend warrior with my projects and with my real job starting to be long hours it is hard to drag myself out of bed on a weekend to go play. I don't have to worry about the cold but the heat sucks the life out of you. But this is all the hands on work, how much time is spent on the other bits, finding manuals, chasing parts, chasing suppliers. I wonder how many restoration people are workaholics.
  9. I don't think it would greatly affect departure angle as it is similar to a mudflap, as all our Unimogs had the same thing
  10. nah we only do the litmus test for prevention of chloride stress corrosion cracking but I thought the same thing i.e. it most likely resulted from an inherent manufacturing process defect when the steel was first rolled. Anyway it's the weekend in the UK so we should be getting another WW1 Thornycroft restoration instalment soon
  11. Wonder why they kept the gearbox.......... so no bits of track or wheels left hidden in the underbrush?
