1. Do we have any members in the museum scene over that way? I keep moving this stack of letters around that I mentioned in this thread http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?15706-Military-Postcards&highlight=letters+pearl and I would prefer they went to some display
2. Interesting bit of history http://www.news.com.au/national/anzac-day/how-keith-murdochs-letter-exposing-the-fiasco-at-gallipoli-changed-australian-history/story-fnmewwpe-1227538559387 the video is also good the full letter http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/special-features/the-letter-that-changed-history/story-fnknbqfy-1227530065059
3. A SUMB paint scheme, sent to me by one of my contacts over there
4. I was wondering if it might of been the truck or armoured truck version http://www.wikiwand.com/it/Fiat-SPA_AS43 not so many piccies as yet Will be nice to see what other bits are in that barn...... they seem to use and alloy plate for ID. Now we need more piccies from the barn... and yes someone buy it The Dutch, another black mark.......... I thought I had seen some older 1950 era DAF trucks that were RHD
5. several of the European states were RHD originally, Dutch was one of the others I believe not a flat fender but some interesting details http://www.maquetland.com/article-phototheque/1708-spa-37-tl-trattore-d-artiglieria- http://www.asphm.com/projets/projet_spa_as37/projet_spa_as37.html http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?SaleCode=MM12&ID=r1023 flat fenders oops wings http://beutepanzer.ru/Beutepanzer/italy/truck/AS-43/as-43-1.htm is curious, are flat wings first model, later or a German mod (as they used a lot of them) This is the crown jewel in SPA rarity....... if you feel like a challenge (you got flat fenders so halfway there ) http://wargaming.info/1996/sahariana-qthe-desert-jeepq/#.VgJi13mhcdU http://www.comandosupremo.com/sahariana.html http://planetarmor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3084
6. I don't know that much about them.... just found them interesting especially the one that looks like a Kubelwagen on steroids. I believe that model is quite rare. Be nice to see some side shots. Is there other missing bits laying around? RHD also which I thought nice. I found some more piccies, but have to go to work... will put the links up when I get back
7. Well springs and gearbox arrived up in Appleby. I use the same courier contact all the time and his service is excellent. If anyone wants something moved from Withams to up North or down London way i highly recommend him.
8. Most of them have curved wings but half way down this page is a flat winged one http://guerra-abierta.blogspot.my/2014/01/tractor-italiano-tl-37.html?m=1 Maybe?
9. 10. I wonder if they got the Chafee out as seen worse rebuilt in here PS looks like Sudan
11. Sounds like a plan. I still figuring out dates as often these HQ meetings drag on after the official dates
12. Cool Looks like I will be back in the UK around the 12th of October. Some of the wiring has been bodged on my Acmat, with the most obvious being the heater fan and window washer switches that are something from Tesco's. So my plan is to change: 1. power chrome toggle switch to Sumb lever type 2. Windscreen washer plastic Tesco junk to sumb type 3. Fan switch from Tesco to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch) 4. Heater switch from Tesco to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch) 5. Driving light to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch) The Hotchkiss pull on off switches might be useable but I need to delve into it further
13. A massive thread with the odd gems http://www.forum-auto.com/automobiles-mythiques-exception/voitures-anciennes/sujet225087-20055.htm http://staticclub.caradisiac.com/private/1/voiture-ancienne/carcasse/photo/hd/104913104/5535929cf6/carcasse-dsc04643-big.jpg?v=1 http://staticclub.caradisiac.com/1/voiture-ancienne/us-cars-jeep/photo/hd/8881135888/557949408f/us-cars-jeep-p1140088-big.jpg?v=2 http://staticclub.caradisiac.com/1/voiture-ancienne/old-cars/photo/hd/104913104/555932508e/old-cars-dsc05223-big.jpg?v=1 http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/11/18/23/05/cam00616.jpg http://staticclub.caradisiac.com/private/1/voiture-ancienne/carcasse/photo/hd/104913104/5535926ce1/carcasse-dsc04619-big.jpg?v=1
14. We should keep this thread going for links etc.....as it gets a bit frustrating finding stuff at times
15. Did they never export Sumb's? I have some English stuff for the Acmat but they were sold to a lot of countries. This site is were I find the most info http://www.vehiculesmilitaires.com/viewforum.php?f=18 but you cannot post in English... Some of the restoration blogs are useful, but the site moved 3 times so the threads are a lot shorter now Leboncoin has some good stuff but often they wont post overseas but is worth a look. Much better if you got a contact to chase the stuff for you
16. Welcome to the joy of French MV ownership.....i have to use google translate all the time
17.
18. stumbled across this one on Flickr.... some other interesting armour in there also. Any idea how thick the diff protection was?
19. or could it have gone missing due to the efficient camouflage system designed to blend in http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?31165-An-old-friend-oh-dear-oh-dear-oh-dear&highlight=pimped+ferret
20. also if was a tunnel the ground penetrating radar would not have shown a train as the sound would hit the interface of the soil to air and reflect back, showing a void Hence I was not convinced with some of the earlier reporting that GPR had found something in a tunnel. When it changed to buried it was more interesting curious what is going to happen next
21. Is this a gutted DUKW in the background http://whitelabel.globalauctionplatform.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/wca/catalogue-id-witham1-10000/lot-a97a562b-457a-4e7a-8fee-a4e900daadef?clienturl=wca Training aid?
22. Nice of Withams, I got 2 sets of front springs also Don't know if the engine sold as it didn't reach reserve, but neither did the springs

Ajax

I have to digress.... but it is historical In Aussie we could never call anything in the Army Ajax as Ajax, FAB and OMO were all clothes washing powders and had very alternate meanings. legend says the Army wives would use these boxes as a code signal: - AJAX = Army Jerk Away on eXercise - OMO = Old Man Out - FAB = F'ing A'le Back
