  1. It was a bit more specialized conservation system, including a rust converter and special coating - read http://www.peachmountain.com/5star/SlaptonSands_Sherman.aspx
  2. That's a great find! Looking forward to see the restoration progressing here.
  3. Jeremy, That would fit nicely on my Hercules Military Bicycle Mk V* PM me your details please if you wish to sell it. Thanks, Hanno
  4. Correct, that GMC has a post-war Swiss body.
  5. prices are back online: https://www.troostwijkauctions.com/uk/collectie-jaap-de-groot/02-20818/
  6. And please note the Command Car is a reproduction..... https://www.troostwijkauctions.com/uk/repro-command-reconnaissance-truck-4x4/03-20818-23046-3497269/
  7. That's sad to hear... Who knows it was (one like) this one
  8. Indeed, so it is 21% over (hammer price + markup). The bid + markup totals EUR 7424, 21% of which is EUR 1559.04. This is made up from 21% over the bid (EUR 1344) plus 21% over the markup (EUR 215.04) - added up this is the same as 21% over the bid + markup (EUR 1559.04). It is listed separately so both the seller and the auctioneer know which amount of VAT to pay to the tax services. So the general tax rule of having to pay 21% VAT over the total price of any item bought is also applied here. Like you said earlier, in total 40,36%.
  9. Bidding frenzy.... FYI, one has to pay 21% VAT over the total price of any item bought. In this case: winning bid x 1.16 (16% markup) x 1.21 (21% VAT) Import a HMV from abroad? Pay 21% VAT over purchase price PLUS shipping costs... Buy a new car? Pay list price PLUS special car tax and then you pay 21% VAT over that....so you pay taxes over taxes, totaling up to 45% taxes on a new car
  10. Here are some more pictures for your enjoyment.
  11. This CMP C60L is a nice truck, though not perfect. Current price incl. 40% costs and VAT is way higher than the advertised price of €7250 at which it failed to attract a buyer for years. A case of bidding fever?
  12. Jean, Further to what Pete wrote, the "X2" means for export to the UK, as per the table in Wheels & Tracks issue No. 37 (October 1991): "CMP Assembly Overseas - Re-assembly of knocked-down Canadian Military Pattern vehicles". Also, the lower plate in one of your photos is a rebuild plate. Often these have a post-war date, but your C30 seems to have been rebuilt on 20-Jan-45 if I read it correctly. By that time it was four years old and apparently had seen enough service to warrant a rebuild. If you post a better picture of this plate there may be someone on this forum who can identify the workshop where it was rebuilt. Hope this helps, Hanno
  13. Missed this when you posted it - great find! Hope it will be seen on the roads in France sometime soon.
  14. Chris, I have bumped up your wanted ad on MLU - I cannot believe this part could not be sourced in Canada?!?
  15. It's an ex-military training ground, and is now a nature reserve. Maybe they do not want to recover the tanks to no disturb the nature reserve.
  16. I'm pretty sure this one is the same: It is located in the Brander forest near Aachen, Germany.
  17. FWD HAR-1 in use in the Netherlands - a rare sight! Source:
  18. That's the one, it is indeed on a small roundabout in the sense that traffic can circle it. You can see more pictures plus a map on here: http://the.shadock.free.fr/Tanks_in_France/sherman_marseille/
  19. It was either having to sell or give his crops to the Germans occupiers or having it turned into an airstrip by the liberators - I'm sure he was happier seeing the Germans gone
  20. I cannot think of a reason why these bikes would not be painted in the Standard Camouflage Colours of the day? As per Mike Stamer's research: http://www.mafva.net/other%20pages/starmer%20camo.htm So the brown would have to be SCC2 I reckon
  21. It says "Faire offre raisonnable" or "make a reasonable offer".
  22. Excellent pics! One of the crane-equipped ones survives in the Netherlands and is regularly attending shows: Picture source: http://buzzybeeforum.nl/viewtopic.php?f=168&t=13142
