I had these in my ferret, when I had it years ago. I am wondering if they were maybe origonal fitment when new? My ferret 08BB76 was a mk 2/4 and never had the co2 gas fire extinguisher system installed, or no sign of it either.

For the 2 bar hoop you are looking for, you could try Foley specialist vehicles. Over the years they have had many of these vehicles and adapted/converted them.

It was very pleasant there thid year. Weather was nice and warm and the sun was shining. Quite a good turnout as well, about 15 vehicles and 4 bikes in all, plus a lot of bikers this year, many more than before.

All being well I should be there. Not sure what vehicle yet, cant get the fv432 running nicely at the moment so might not risk that, but still the 101 should be ok, I hope.

Very nice. I use to drive 1 of these occasionally, and they will go up amazing slopes and go nearly anywhere. They are fantastic fun to drive as well. Keep on top of the maintenance, especially the greasing. I did find they struggled a bit in stickey mud as it dries out, it seemed to get in between the road wheels and gum up the drivetrain. I was never actually sure of driving these on the road though, do you need a H licence or not? Technically it steers by articulating the bodies against each other, not by breaking a track and powering round with the other track. However it is a tracklaying vehicle.

Is there not a local brass band that you could speak to? Beiing a bugle it is simular to other brass instruments, especially a cornet or trumpet. They are not able to make as many notes, as its all down to your lip action inside the mouth peice.

As the last post said the website should have several pics. The MK2 has only a much smaller hole for the exhaust, I believe the exhaust has a square flange where it goes through the hull. The mk 1 has different grills on top, they dont fold up at all, apart from 2 smaller flaps for access to the 2 oil bath air cleaners. I can provide photos of the mk1 grills if you wish. I think you may get away with the nbc filter box cover, as I think the cover is very simular, but the larger airbox has a deflector plate in front of it. The main differences are inside, and how the fan and filters are arranged.

The term for the small tractors is actually compact tractors. I use two Kubota compacts at work-a golf club- and I rate them very highly. Most of the larger tractor manufacturers make a compact range, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland. They do vary on their type of build, for example JD have a vast aray of electronic controls on theirs, while NH tend to be heavily and strongly built. As said before I would also steer well clear of "cheap" imported compact tractors, I have heard many nightmare stories. The larger manufacturers will also offer a choise of transmission types as well, usually gears or hydrostatic. For very general mowing in larger areas a geared tractor would probably best suited. As said before you will generally get what you pay for when it comes to a mower, our compacts are both 36hp and easily cope with a 6' finishing mower, a 3 spindle rotary mower which leaves a reasonable finish. Rollers will give you stripes, and a general topper is just that, used to just cut the top off grass/weeds without a particular good finish. As to where to buy them from, start at local ag dealers as generally they do overlap to horticulture/turf equipment.

A very good friend of mine spent a weekend changing his starter motor only to find exactly the same problem as above. To change the starter is a real pain in the a***. He to found no change, but with 2 new batteries the starter few into life.

This Saturday 3rd Sept there is an event that is looking looking for a few more vehicles. Their target is £10,000 for Help for Heros. http://www.armyinthepark.com/ Its being held at Bedfont FC, and sound like it could be a big event. I really enjoy looking through the photos. There is so much to see and do at the show that you cannot see everything. The photos give an insight to things I haven't seen. We went into the arena with the 432 for all the tank sessions, and had more laps this year than in the past. It is great to see a picture of us going round in the arena. I agree that the majority of vehicles don't go to the arena and maybe some of these could/should appear in the photos, maybe even in a different section just "around the show" to help keep the arena action daily specific. Overall I enjoy viewing the photos, and I too would like to see a slideshow option, like there used to be.

Not sure, they a large music festival this weekend, so maybe once thats all cleared up?

It is a site used for driving days yes. However I was present when it was brought and the steps were on it then.

I taxed mt 432 yesterday with my reminder and did not need to fill in a V112G. There is a box to cross on the renewal form to claim the exemption from a MOT. You do not need to state why it is exempt. The guy behind the counter didnt even know of the 112G form, he just handed me the new disc.

Great vehicle, 1 of my favourite WW2 vehicles. Do I see a second 1 in the first picture? Have you got an origonal engine and transmisson to go back in?

shame we never put a 17 pdr in the churchill as that would have made for parity on the battlefield. Wasn't that the thinking behind the Black Prince-a development of the Churchill?

When we were looking round for a truck to carry our 432 we found the same problem. In the end we decided to go for an ex-army vehicle so we could get the insurance easily through Roadsure. We did find a truck we wanted, but could not get insurance anywhere. Good luck

I was told that the best way to lube zips was to use a graphite pencil lead. I think this is great on small metal zips, but you may need a few pencils for large long zips. If you use a liquid lube, I would be careful as it may attract dust, also they may be messy on clothing if you are using the tents.

I'd just like to add my congratulations to the "Overlord" show team. We arrived lunchtime friday and were welcomed warmly. We had a fantastic weekend and the whole group enjoyed themselves. Some came home yesterday but wished they could have done the extra night like we did. Thanks to Rosie and co for seeing us out onto the road lunchtime today when we finally made a move. Nice pics posted, and thanks again to all the organisers, have a pat on the back and we'll definately be back next year.
