If only they have come earlier Ian, the cost of transport to CZ is more than the price of the bowser so after paying for two trips I need to think a lot about another adventure. If you had spares to sell I would surely be interested, but I understand that you want to sell as complete as possible. Or is there a chance you split one for spares?

Wow Ian, what an amazing find again. A bit jealous now. If you have any spares you want to sell let me know. I need the tow hitch, pump and filter as a pattern, taps, hand brake parts etc. Dismantling mine and getting all sandblasted but the drums are stuck, cant take them off the axle without cutting the brake linings.

I have not seen these stands in close. Could anybody who has one post some pictures of it here. Some dimensions would also be great. We use this cooker for our events and it works well. Would be easier to use these stands though. Cheers

International Harvester D15 Metro, very rare ambulance with history. Two of these vans were adopted by United Body Co.of Chicago US and donated by Federation of American Czechoslovaks in Texas and other patriot organisations to Czechoslovak units in the UK during WWII. Made in 1940. One was Dentist and one standard ambulance. One was saved from scrap by my friend and restored. This water bowser arrived to its new home in Czech Republic last week. The chassis will be stripped down and sandblasted before any repair and welding is done. Will post the process here. Having another torso of this trailer, I am looking for another pair of wheels if out there. The pair I got is in poor condition. Also looking for any accessories pictured like the water pumps, filters, taps, hitch etc. If everything goes OK, we will have water supply at our events next year :-)

Looking good Ian, these are the pictures I will need to remanufacture the hitch on mine. Lets hope the weather gets better and you will make it to W&P with the bowser. Fingers crossed.

Hi all, does anyone have any detail pictures or plans for the artillery aiming device that hold either a Bren or Enfield rifle on the barrel for drill purposes. How was it operated? We would like to make a replica for our 6pdr. One like this:

I could not find any Aiming posts for sale for my 3" mortar so I made them. They are precisely copied from my friends original. I could make more in case someone would be interested. Priced at 40GBP per piece. There should be two with each mortar. Picture taken of both the original and copy for comparisson.

Thanks guys, I have two possibilities now, make the owner to apply for us or hire an agent to go through all this. The SPIRE told me we need a UK address to apply for the licence. The agent is asking 280GBP+VAT. A bit pricey but should be without a hassle. The owner does not seem to be impressed the vehicle is going abroad and he needs to go through all this, so we want to make it as easy as it gets for him. Dusan

Hello all, a friend of mine just bought a 1941 Chevrolet in the UK which we want to export to Czech Republic. The vehicle is UK registered. I understand we need to apply for an export licence. But which one? The vehicle will be exported permanently so I guess it is not the OGEL. Is there a direct link for the application? I am quite lost on the SPIRE pages. Do we need to apply or the current owner? What is the procedure with the change of the registration to another person if the car will go outside the UK? The whole procedure seems to be a bit messy so we are even thinking of hiring an agency to go through all this for us. Anyone can recommend an agent or person which could do it for certain amount of money? Dusan

Hi Tim, thanks for the information. I also think the papers enclosed have some sort of chemicals on it to react with gas - change of colour such as the Gas detector Brassards widely used at the beginning of WWII do. This gas detector has no date on but the pouch is 1943 issue. My opinion is that the gas detector was used after the gas attack to check the level of contamination while having the gas mask on. I am not sure if the paper Brassards changed colour back to the original when the area was clear? This equipment would be a way to find out. Of course I might be wrong. Would anybody else know? Hello, can anybody tell me how exactly this gas detector works. I assume the air is sucked in by the pump through one of the round detection papers which are enclosed in the handle compartment. Or am I wrong? Would anybody have an instruction manual? It is WWII. Cheers, Dusan

Paul, there is an alternative which according to Ken Whyte of Australia works very well. I have not tried it on mine detector yet, but will do it soon. Here are the instructions I was given: You will need to make up a set of 8 x 9v batteries giving 67 volts Make the connections with positive "+" to red lead of mine detector "-" to black lead of mine detector. Then, use a 1 x 1.5 volt "D" battery. Make the connections with positive "+" to white lead of mine detector, And "-' to black lead of mine detector. Use only Alkaline battery "D" for the 1.5v supply - if you use a standard battery it will not make enough power (1.2v). The valves inside the detector need a full 1.5v supply. This battery will be the one that needs constant replacement (not the larger "9v" batteries - they will last a long time) I have noticed that there is not enough information on No.4A detector on the net so decided to write an article on it. The one in Czech Republic is of friend of mine. First picture is from one of our military events. The WOT3 was used for new Czech movie Tobruk recently shot in Africa where I also participated as extras. You can see other cars used for the movie. Dusan
