    Hello Steve

I bid on that one but my offer was not accepted. I believe Its one of 4 that were supplied that year, I have one of the others.

The VIN number looks good compared to mine and the military reg seems correct, in line with my numbers.

I will try to help you with questions, what is the registration number?

    Cheers

  4. Hi rog8811, you're dead right, I have spoken to Ron Groom who sold both trucks around twenty five years ago and he said they had a local firm build the new cab when the original hard cab got too rough. I'm hoping to find a scrap hard cab to use as a pattern to build a new one as this one is now quite rotten and not the prettiest thing on earth. Thanks for the interest, cheers Lee.

    Evening Lee

I have a tired hard top cab that might help you get closer to your goal, call me on 07860 824608

  5. Hi

The trailer i have is ex Italian i believe, back to the UK via Army Cars with the extra side extensions cut off.

The only data plate is a small bronze on with the name of the overhaul firm from Italy on it in 1963, so I to, am very interested

if there is a serial number stamped on the chassis and where to look.

Picture attached, if anyone can assist, that would be great

(ignore the body, not dead, just looking for a serial number)

  7. Looking at the possibility of organising a 75th Anniversary celebration in 2016 for the Diamond T 980 and 981 models (although the 4 ton chassis models will be welcome too). To gauge the level of interest who would be interested in participating? It is intended that we join the commercial or military sections of an existing show.

Proposed location would be central England (Worcestershire/Staffordshire area).

    Thanks

    Adrian.

    Hello Adrian

Please book me in and let me know if i can help as well, it will be great to get the "Heavies" together,

lets hope we can get support from ALL owners

    regards

  8. Hi Tony,

Mine have both got full LR chassis number and I have spoken to LR on them and they were both Special Vehicle build. I have confirmed via MERLIN that there were 22reg and both part of batch (6 for the 1993 / 2 for the 1995).

What did yours have and do you have details (Mil reg etc), as so far I have details of 15.

    Regards

    Paul

    Hello Paul

I have just acquired one of the 1993 batch with Merlin paperwork and original Special vehicle plate with Military reg on

    the slam panel.

will post a picture or two shortly, do you have the list of registrations?

    regards

  9. Hello

I am taking my Diamond T 981 from South Manchester to Normandy for two weeks in May/June

and I am looking for assistance / possible storage for the 6 weeks between arriving back in Portsmouth

and War and Peace Revival show as I don't really want to bring it all the way back to Macclesfield.

if you have any suggestions or contacts to move the vehicle or a possible storage area where I can drive to

I would welcome any assistance as this matter as it may be the only opportunity I can get to go to a show

    in Kent with my vehicle.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Hello Harper

did you buy one of you DT's from Manchester?? it was fitted with a 205 ltr steel drum as a fuel tank on top of the standard tank? if so, I met the man who originally restored this Diamond T whilst at the Victory Show at Cosby in 2013.

he showed me his pictures of the DT from finding the lorry in a field without a cab to pictures attached.

it was then sold down to a gent near Bristol and then to the Helicopter museum at Weston super Mare I believe before it came up to Manchester.

Hope of interest, always nice to know a little history

  11. Thanks John

I will have to think hard about this one.... I think this would have had civilian gauge, but they might have been change during its post war millitary usage in Norway.

I have seen it running and driving, back in 95 (when I was child and could stand underneath its front wings), and the valve was the reason it got parked.

Its by the way chassis number 00007

    Hi,

    may i suggest

go to UK ebay, by the Hercules Petrol engine for 875 GBP Sterling, fit it and drive it home,

easy to do and would make a great story

    cheers

  12. wow id love this one

Now in Carlisle, the wrecking gear was cut off and a ballast body refitted,

this has since been removed and Holmes wrecking gear refitted.

the easy way to spot this one through the years are the two large weights

    welded into the front bumper.

i have seen it in blue, red (at the dorset steam fair) then green when in Essex

    and now yellow

    All the best

  13. Hi

not sure if this link has been put up before but just came across it showing the best

    of the RASC.

a quick shoot of Diamond T's in Africa earlier on but at around 14.15 minutes, look and listen

to the shoot showing the landing craft balanced on top of Rogers trailers with the front axle

bouncing up and down on the cobble streets

    worth a look

Happy New Year to all DT owners

Hope to see as many as possible in 2013

    Cheers
