  1. Could someone post a good picture of two of a Locomobile truck (sister to the Riker truck) chain drive trans-axle and rear end arrangement. Also, does the Locomobile truck utilize a three or four speed transmission? I am curious to see the differences between the Riker "worm Drive" rear end and the Locomobile "chain drive" rear end. I wonder why they had two very different designs to do the same work? What are the thoughts of this group of forum followers?

  3. Surely an British/European hub mounted Odometer as it is KM and not miles. This is most likely an aftermarket item sold to many manufacturers to be used on a wide variety of trucks or automobiles. What is shown on the mounting flange? Is it mounted with male or female threads? What does the underside look like? Is the trigger mechanism complete and functional? This is a nice piece to mount to someones rig. Al
  4. Hello Rick, You were correct with your suggestion that you never know what may be helpful! If in my wildest imagination, If I can locate an original radiator, that would be great. The reality is that I may end up needing to build a radiator. If that is the case, the picture you sent could be reworked and used as a pattern from which to have a new good pattern built using modern technology. I even like that one good measurement is on the drawing so making an accurate scale drawing should be very doable. Thanks for posting the picture. Al
  5. HMMMM, It appears that someone went to a bunch of work to break down this Karrier truck. I wonder why? If they were after the salvage to sell, it still seems like a bunch of work for what they got out of it. If they were after parts from which to improve another Karrier, I guess that is possible but....???? I would think that if the truck got old and simply work out, generally these trucks just become derelict and are drug to a hedge row and left. What are your thinking? If it is out away from civilization, was it in an old industrial, mining, logging or agricultural area? Your Karrier adventure does make me think of a few of my own similar adventures. Al

  19. I have studied the above mentioned picture of the Riker. I am impressed that the drag link certainly looks like a more typical Locmobile item proving its kinship with the Locomobile automobiles. It is interesting to study this kind of picture and do a bit of daydreaming. Al

  23. Hello Marcel, Thanks for your note telling me how ot access your old thread! I need to spend some time and read from front to back. You have provided several interesting solutions to problems facing a restoration of an early truck. Your resolution for refurbishment of hard rubber tires is a very nice alternative solution. If I could find some donor wheels here in the US I would certainly consider your repair method. Al
