  4. Hi ken thanks very much for the reply , I am really coming up with a blank at present as to when it was sold and where , but I am in contact with the home office and am going to request details from the dvla when they re open , thanks for the info mike
  5. Hi Clive , thanks for that , i am at present in conversation with various people trying to get a fix on this i have spoken with the archives at lancashire but i think because the bike was issued to stretford it may have been taxed there . it is a bit more difficult with lots of placed either closed or on short time due to the current situation which is understandable , i am also trying to track it back to the last known owner in 1986 but he unfortunately is no longer with us , but his family may or may not be able to give me some ideas , i will keep searching while i start to put her back to her AfS Livery , thanks again regards Mike
  6. Hi when looking for your bike you didn’t come across mine In any lists did you ? It was in the first batch of 8 supplied by matchless for evaluation by the home office to the AFS in June 1953 its reg no is LYO 847 , I am struggling to find history on it , thanks mike
  7. Hi thanks for the reply I have now been informed that my bike was not sold at Ruddington . i have seen the records for the other 7 bikes being sold off but mine seems to have ‘disappeared’ . thanks regards mike
  8. Hi i have been looking at all the posts on the forum on ex AFS matchless bikes sold at Ruddington in the late sixties and early seventies , I know the post was back from 2015 but I wonder if you came across my bike LYO847 Matchless G3 it was delivered to Stretford AFS station in June 1953 as one of 7 that were the first batch for evaluation and sold I believe at rudheath , I believe BT hat there was a ‘duty done ‘ CD , would anyone know where I may get a copy I’ve drawn a total blank up to now , any info would be greatly appreciated Regard mike

I wonder if you may be able to help , I have a AFS matchless  G3  that I am trying to find the history on , I know from the matchless club that it was delivered to D60 Stratford Lancashire on 24/5 June 1953 as one of the first batch of  7 bikes  To be evaluated , i cannot find a Stratford in Lancashire or reference to D60 in the AFS ?

any help would be really appreciated thanks mike

i just have to see if I can find any photos with my bike on them in their records   , long shot but you never know , thanks again mike

Hi yes I live 6 miles from Stretford but the info I have been given very kindly from  a chap on this site says Stratford  in Lancashire

Stretford was in Lancashire in 53 before the boundary changes .

the division is D60 which  I think is the key ,  I have found I think D63 which is Wigan again in Lancashire so it won’t be far away , I think it will be Stretford thanks for your help .

      Regards mike

  12. Hi I wonder if you may be able to help me with this ?
I am new to the forum so if I have not gone about it in the correct way I do apploagise but you seem rather knowledgeable on the subject ,

Hi  i have just joined the forum , as i found it by chance when trying to find out information on a bike i have , its a  1953  matchless G3 with original engine matching the frame  reg number   LYO847

I have worked out from some posts back in 2015 that some members may have the catalogues for ruddington  sales  i have seen that on some of the scans that were posted then  reg numbers LYO 840  843  844  845  were sold but i dont see mine , i was wondering if anyone could put me in the right direction , i believe that my bike was one of the first batch for evaluation from the first supply contract , i would love to find out more info , thanks mike

Hi Mike, I can't be much help I am afraid, I know your bike was stationed at Stratford- Lancashire for some of its service but I am afraid I don't have any auction detail for it. the LYO reg would indicate its from the evaluation era.

      regards TED.
