  1. Stop looking at other peoples and sort your own out Andy....
  2. Radials on the rear i believe......So technically yes....illegal :-D
  3. I've already had Nick taking the piss out of my Meadows. There's a Leyland 680, A Rolls 220 (i think) and Nick with his American pig iron So no i won't be racing....In fact i might just get in front to annoy them...:cool2:
  4. I'll take some piccies for you Andy. There will hopefully be four of up there this year. Me, Nick, Julian, And William. I shall take great pleasure at being the most scabby unfinished Scammell on the site:D Really need to re paint the bloody thing but these rallys are to early in the year for painting..:embarrassed:
  5. Bonfire still burning just about, The brake cylinder seems the easy way to make it a trailer and seems a very simple solution. I was thinking along the lines of a bracket on the seat base for the ram to sit in. Just the decision whether to suspend tow it off the jib. (got a few narrow lanes to navigate and it might make reversing easier) or to drag it on an a frame....Need to find a bloomin ambulance first. Sort of like a living van that can take itself out camping at weekends..:-D Thanks for your input, and now i'll stop taking you off topic..:red:
  6. Taking you off topic here sorry......But what about a brake chamber instead of a ram? Even a spring brake chamber. .Could the pressure applied be reduced by backing off the nut? Mabey a small air tank and relay valves could be hung on the front of the landy to work said system and would provide brake away protection...
  7. That looks like a simple soloution but i'm pretty sure i can make one for a few quid, Need to find a landy ambulance at the right price first...Or i could just get the wife to drive it behind me....
  8. I some thread.....a while back....somewhere on here you mentioned you had n air cylinder that could be fitted to the brake pedal of a towed lorry in order to work its brakes.....any chance you could post a picture of said device I have a plan as to towing a land rover ambulance behind the Scammell and would need to work the brakes of said landy and this might be a way of doing it.......And your thoughts on the subject. I'm pretty sure it would be a legal way of towing said landy behind the scammell....
  9. Explorers take a great deal of time, effort, money, time, money, effort, time and money......there is only one way to make it up to her indoors:cool2:
  10. Congratulations to you both....We're also expecting our first in June....
  11. What about some sort of easily clicked on votey bar graph type thing that only keep the last months information. Just click on who gave you the best deal and then the info is shown in a graph...
  12. stunning..any pictures of the inside? I like it. here is another good site for nicely converted vehicles...i'll do it one day hopefully..:cool2: http://www.travellerdave.co.uk/
  13. Could be, to be honest i was in a state of shock when the chap was telling me all about it...:shake:
  14. Hang on just a Mo. We'll have no talk of Green paint on my Scammell....not my scene the whole ex military thing....You'll find me in the classic commercial section or the heavy haulage talking lorries...with men...and beer...and burgers...and more beer...and lorries
  15. Just renewed the Scammell insurance...Footman James wanted £165....Carol Nash did it for £104......
  16. Do you know that when Leyland took over Scammell they went through the parts stores for the older models like the explorers and rigid eights ect, removed the labels and part numbers and skipped the lot. Criminal.... I hate Layland...
  17. bloody good crane on them wagons. Do they have a rotary coupling on the slew or are they not full 360? like your exhaust mod, keeps the eye watering crap out of your face:D
  18. Thanks for that...I think thats what bill uses but he orders yacht varnish form our boatyard and mixes that in with it to make it harder and more resistant to scratches from the bushes and trees ect....
  19. never looked at my front axle, Its the only thing that doesn't leak or make a funny noise. I know someone who used rubber winscreen tube as a seal with some success. I need to repaint my cab an think i will go for cheap oil based paint exterior gloss rather than the expensive pain i used last time. Any thoughts?
  20. Looking good there.....:-D Good paint that Nato stuff, You spray a dog turd and make it look nice with that paint.. You going to fit some goal posts to sit the boom on over the cab?
  21. Hi chaps. I have always had a very very soft spot for the AEC militant mk3 recovery. I have just tried to find Militant Grahams site and it gone! he had some good manuals on there. I haven't seem Hagar for years and Nick tells me its off the road :embarrassed: Have i missed something or has Graham given up.
