  1. It is really grand to see the work and expense you have gone to with your vehicle. Despite being a self admitted terrible rivet counting anorak, I can understand and respect why you have gone down the road of making it into what it is and you are not hiding it's history in anyway or being deceptive, so it is all good. No matter what is is made up from it will have value but more importantly enjoyment for you. Grand job.
  2. You can also read up on the blurb for it here https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/19-4/Appi.htm there were black or white round signs with corresponding alternate white or black arrows on them that were often used in conjunction. Some very fancy cylume allows were also around at times
  3. These are generic sign boards that have special holes in them to allow them to be mounted on the metal stakes with the corresponding button head studs on them. The boards can be used over and over again with anything and everything on them. A roller and some black paint and you have a fresh board. B196 is likely something very mundane and boring. The boards were made of a funny pressed kind of cardboard tar paper material that was indestructible. Usual name for them was route signs.
  4. I have shouted this from the rooftops for years since being in this hobby / interest group. It has never made me popular as a result, but I have never had anyone come back and tell me I was wrong. I stand by it today. "If you think items you want are expensive now, wait a few years and you will wish you had bought two or three when you could, as now there is no supply"
  5. Duck and cover, duck and cover, incoming........
  6. So, do I take it that there is no one into webbing and gear like that on here? Should I post this elsehwere? If so any suggestions?
  7. Bryan I think the left one is spot on, ie commanders gun on the CVRT Spartan. not sure about the other at all but your suggestion makes sense and I thank you for it.
  8. Good day all, A friend of mine is downsizing, as I am into British vehicles I was chosen as the dumping point. I have tried to interview him as best as I can to get as much information and this is about it. In period around 1995 to 1997 he was REME attached to 3 PARA with an AMFL role. In that time they were issued this trials side pocket that was compatible with the Bergen of the time. He recalls the concept being that as mechanics and or armourers this pouch was fitted with multiple stowage for small tools in general. It opened out with a flap covering the last section which has pockets rather than loops. The two identification labels sewn on have lost their printing and some of the plastic / nylon clips have been destroyed through active usage. He states that this was intended for both medics and mechanics. He says as a mechanic / armourer they did not find favour in usage with the bergen as fully loaded they made you lopsided. He carried his elsewhere but used it a lot and found it very useful Does anyone collect this stuff?
  9. Clive are any of those available anywhere to be purchased as a copy. The first one in your list on the Ferret is my obvious ask. I may have some trades from my end, I will have to go look
  10. For some reason an Eager Beaver comes to mind but I have been known to be wrong
  11. Skip at REME Depot in Texas has full kits, he is best reached through email and or facebook. I believe he has had all the unavailable parts that did not come in everyone else's supposed kits sourced or re manufactured so his whole kits really are a full kit. I will warn him you are looking to make contact
  12. Oil smells like petrol is often a fuel pump diaphragm issue I would suggest
  13. All great stuff, will report back if I have all my fingers still Thank you one and all
  14. Oh Chris (Sirhc) bless you my child for alleviating my concerns. You fill me with confidence to get this done, really you do, never had a bad bit of advice from you ever. Thank you chum
  15. Dear Robin aka raeross, Thanks for the comment, however it is the other way around. The tires are being saved along with the wheels but the run flats are not needed.
  16. Good day, We are breaking a Ferret for the component parts to ensure several others continue to run. What can anyone tell us about getting the runflat ring out after removing air from the assembly and splitting the wheel halves. We do do not have access to a tyre spreader like Sirhc has. We will be working with basic tools available here in the colonies. Putting the kettle on now.....
  17. Best upgrade to a Ferret for long term value for money, well maybe equal to my product but anyway. Great piece of kit and invisible if installed with care. You can only make it better by impeccable fuel housekeeping and or going to a remote fuel source.
  18. Welcome along and enjoy, plenty here
  19. Bob, Matthew Jones at Ferret spares will likely take anything like that readily. I will ping him to get in contact.
  20. Good day, Doing some research. Did the Queens flight ever use refuellers painted in their distinctive blue colour? Is it too much to wonder if any pictures exist?
