  1. Thats correct, its a monocoque body and only outer skin and floor plans are lightly armoured, majority of the body is 8 or 10mm with 12 and 14mm (the original armoured plate was metric) in some places like the front panel, roof hatches and front turret. All the internal panels and gussets are just thin steel 1.2 - 1.6mm. Its a very agricultural design compared to the Humbers and Daimlers etc, ideal for Nuffield to build :-)

  3. Yep it may well be the one, not many around for sale. Price had gone up a bit though :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Finally managed to find some time for the Morris and make progress on the inner panels and finish the turret ring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have not had any made yet, keep finding NOS items on eBay in small batches. I have looked into getting a batch made but they were nearly £2 per bolt! hopefully i can find enough before i need them for final assembly.
  6. I need the same fasteners for my Morris LRC, i have been picking them up from eBay over the last couple of year, managed to get about 300 of various lengths so far :-) , only need about another 200!:nut:
  7. i used this one in the bedford, just painted the chrome. http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproduct.asp?sg=2&pgCode=070&sgName=Hardware&pgName=Gauges&agCode=0607&agName=Smiths+Classic+52mm+Full+Scale&pCode=070.029
  8. More progress has been made on the Morris :-) Roof welded in completely and hatches test fitted. I have made the turret ring and fitted it to the roof, needs to go the the machine shop for finishing off. Pedals, master cylinder and steering box finally removed so the hull is ready for blasting. Removing the pedals was a real swine of a job as the mounts are welded in place and the pivot shafts are stepped so can't be removed!!! Very odd! Also evidence of the original colour under the suspension mounts, olive drab which fits in nicely with the British paint colours of 1945, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. We had to clear out an garden this week where there is this old site/living trailer. Nice oak frame with cast wheels that have rubber bonded outer steel tyres. Not sure of its origins or date but seems an interesting bit of kit. It needs to be moved on of its of any interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Bedford Scammell OXC with 4 people. Dodge WC4 with 3 people.
  11. New roof went in yesterday, now the welding marathon can begin :-)
  12. :-) Roof and hatches coming along
  13. Some more progress in the strip down, seems to be taking forever to get it apart. So I decided to start making some new parts to break up the work a bit :-)
  14. How big is big enough? :cool2:
  15. So after doing over 500 miles in the Bedford with the diesel engine i am very happy with it :-) yes its a bit noisy in the cab compared to the petrol engine but everything else is a vast improvement. the truck will now happily sit at 38-40 mph on the motorway up hill and down unlike before. Pulling up steep hills is also so much better, certainly left the Bedford QL and the convoy behind in Guernsey:rotfl: and the cab temperature is much lower, my leg is not cooking on the firewall! Fuel economy has improved massively not figured out the current MPG but after a week of driving around Guernsey i had used only 3/4 of a tank :-) And no issues with fuel vapor or hot starting, overheating during the slow convoys etc. apart from the few disgruntled Bedford purists :-) i think i can say its been a success. Next up a step frame trailer to go behind it, just a bought a remains of a trailer to build it with.
  16. It's BS298 olive drab, I get it from Cromadex.
  17. Petty much ready to go to Guernsey, just need to sort out the inside.
  18. something like this would work a treat http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-G-CORSA-C-inc-VANS-1-7-TD-DTi-DIESEL-BRAND-NEW-ALTERNATOR-99-04-/281518693241?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3AVauxhall|Model%3AAstra&hash=item418bd25b79 I used a similar on my Bedford when i put the Nissan engine in, pulls plenty of vacuum for the Vacuum trailer brake actuator. Alternatively many modern cars use electric vacuum pumps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-new-electrical-12V-vacuum-brake-pump-/321650581243?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae3de5efb
  19. The crazy and annoying thing is this is how new drivers are taught to drive for the test! i did my C+E a few years ago and was gobsmacked when i was instructed not to use the gears to slow down! but to use the brakes and block change!! don't make sense to me:nut:
  20. yes i know what you mean, you can get inline pressure regulators as well, they work just as well and can be hidden quite easily.
  21. I find it best to use a good quality (Facet/SU) low pressure pump and then fit a filter/regulator (Filter King) after the pump, it reduces the pulse effect of the pump on the needle valve and you can set the pressure from 1-4 psi, works great.
