  1. The Bedford Boys are on to it. The Rover is one of Four converted Stage 1 109's. These were taken out of service and were of all ages of Stage 1's (we had 566 of them), however one of them was from the very first batch of Stage 1's, possibly this one, and had probably scene 10 years hard service before being rebuilt. I believe that the NZ Army EME Workshops did the conversion, but I could stand corrected on that. They were converted around the time of the deployment to Bosnia however these four trucks have never left New Zealand, well not yet anyway. They are basically a standard Stage 1 109 with a few Mods including TDi300 Diesel, as was all the Bosnian bound rovers. Tin top with no windows on sides or rear Dual Rear Wheels I think they have air suspension as well Rather large extended mud guards to cover dual wheels And they were used for...... They were used by the Electonic Warfare Squadron of the New Zealand Corps of Signals for amoungst other things tracking of electronic signals. aka Secret Squirrel work. I remember seeing them operating on the streets of Auckland in the late 90's when there was an APEC confernce that President Clinton came to. All in all a bit of an odd ball machine, I am hopping to go and have a close look at this week All The Best Kev
  2. I wonder where I got that chassis number from? Thanks Clive for pointing that out I went out and checked the data plate and have now corrected the web site. The actual number is 25435939H It is interesting that the Data plate has no vehicle Number and no Maintenance record these areas are completely blank as if the plate is new with only the chassis number, contract number code and CES numbers. Thanks Tony for the museum info, I will let you all know how I get on. One other question, does anyone know what paint job the BAOR Ambulances would have been in the mid 80s Deep Bronze Green , Cam or? 3. I have a Series 2A (1971) Landrover Ambulance that was imported from the UK to here in New Zealand in 1999 and was repainted, by the previous owner, to look like a UN Ambulance owned by the Dutch Army (Actually a series 3). I would like to be able to find out some history behind the Ambo, all I have been able to find is that it was used by the BAOR at some time, its a Left Hand Drive one as it had the remains of a sticker on the windscreen mentioning the BAOR. Also on the Passenger inside door (RHS) it had the word Hilton. My question is how do I go about finding: a) its History and b) its Original Reg number. All I have its Marshal Body number (95) on the side of the Body. Its a great machine and I hope to return it to its original colours and unit number if I can find them Below should be a link to our Club server and some photos of the Ambo http://www.nzmvcc.org.nz/ppr1.html Thanks Kevin Frethey Auckland New Zealand
  4. Can't help thinking that our world is going to "Hell in a handbag" (I believe thats the saying). I have just read the other post on the pretend Rambo with the Plastic knife being locked up, I wonder if the boys in blue will even get around to investigating some of these thefts!!. We have had a couple of similar acts by lowlifes here in New Zealand recently. Last Year they broke into the NZ Army Museum in Waiouru (middle of North Island if you are looking and yes its miles from anywhere except the Army Camp) they stole about 90 medals including a number of VC's, they eventually got caught and the medals are now thankfully safely back in the museum behind about $1.5Million worth of new security. The other incident was someone has been visitng the cemetries around the country removing the Bronze plaques from the Ex Servicemen graves, I understand the Police have no idea who it was and think that the plaques would be now melted down. Scum is to light a word to use in describing these lowlifes!!!!
