  1. Hi Clive, the reg was 77FL08 so where would it fit in terms of earlier/later FL orders/contracts and therefore what equipment would be appropriate? Thanks
  2. Hi thanks for the replies and info. Does anyone know where the best place to find this equipment for sale, I have had a look butcant find any equipment, ebay has only plugs etc, i found armyradio.com but I dont know if any of this would be ok/needed for the setup. Apart from the items in my pics: Interconnection Box 4 way Number 4 was the primary LT distribution unit audio amplifier for the intercom in the Eddystone diecast box and the radio what other items do i need e.g. wiring/leads/cables boxes and headsets etc? Would a A42 be suitable if i cant find a A41? And what type of prices should these go for? Thanks. Tyler.
  3. I am trying to find out info on the radio and comms equipment that was used in vehicles in NI during the time my Shorland would have served. I have found some info with the help of Clive but not enough to pin down the specific equipment. This is what I know so far: “The switching for the Pye Westminster & intercom was done in a die cast box adaptation fixed on a plywood board mounted vertically behind the driver.” "As for the original comms. There was one VHF whip on the rear off side. I am not sure what the radio was, Commers & Pigs used Pye Vanguards on 108 Mc/s.” “The Shorlands went into storage & were vandalized. Whatever radios they had they were removed. The UDR initially used Pye Bantams wedged into the dash, then A31 with the whip up through the turret. Then when the batches of Mk 3 Shorlands appeared Pye Westminster’s with an intercom system switched in." Can anyone tell me what manufacture of the A31 would this be? Clansman etc? And is there any other designations given to this equipment? As I have looked on eBay and found clansman 351/352 and I was wondering if these were the same equipment? Also would the intercom function on these radios have been used or would a separate system be used? And would this have been used by all 3 crew or just commander and gunner etc? The only radio/comms stuff in the Shorland was two boxes behind the driver and the aerial base on the back. The plug pictured has UK PAT 990416 on it. Please excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to radios and comms equipment. Thanks Tyler.
  4. Hi I have one of these Rapier B1 generators sat in the garden, could anyone provide any information on them? Thanks.
  5. it is certainly possible as CMV or MMI had a wartime picture of a 2 door Morris 8 series E which was the same thing just with a passenger car rear body. I can find the pic for you if you want.
  6. Stupid I know but what is/was Guards depot? Tyler.
  7. Hello again all, I bought this 1972 S2a 109" Marshalls bodied ambulance about 2 weeks ago. The seller bought from a mod surplus dealer in 1999 and then drove over the Alps to northern Bosnia to deliver aid in it, since then he has done 20.000mls using it as a daily driver. Since I have had it I have fitted a new water pump, removed the gearbox ready for a replacement to be fitted as only 4th was working. The owner had used one side of the rear compartment to store aid by folding down the strecher carrier and turning it into a shellving, and the other side was his sleeping area along with adding some strip lights and power points etc for devices for the journey to Bosnia so these have all been removed to return it to its service spec. So far I've managed to purchase 2 ex Dutch forces roof top vents, as from most of the pictures of examples in preservation I've seen they seem to have been all removed. I've pressure washed it to remove all of the flakey paint and found 2 coats of gloss Green (spray), 1 satin Green(brush), 1 Green(brush) and Black(spray) and a Green(brush) turned olive and a marking on the front and rear drivers side which is LOND / 76 (any ideas on meaning)? I am not sure on its service life history as I only have the military reg which was 07FL46. Ive found 3 pic's of these in service all the rest are post service life. Can anyone tell me what paint schemes and theatres these were painted and used in? I will post pics and updated tomorrow. Thanks Tyler.
  8. Hello, does anyone have any pics of 109 land rover ambulances in service, dormant or restored and where they served and possible paint schemes as I have just purchased one in need of tlc. Thanks. Tyler.
  9. Hi could anyone tell me what the modern equiverlant of Lockheed orange brake fluid is? Thanks. Tyler.
  10. This probably won't help you, but I'm sure I read elsewhere that the rear wings on EOD/Bomb Disposal vehicles were not or it wasn't standard practice to paint them Red. So I thought I'd post an observation, I watched a documentary on the Falklands war (possibly the Peter and Dan Snow '20th century Battles'), and in the back ground of some footage filmed on the islands duRing the conflict you could clearly see 2 EOD/Bomb Disposal S3 LWB hardtop Landies. With the usuall front wing painted in red but the rear half of the rear wings were also painted red. On both vehicles the Red areas had been roughly painted with a very thin coat of Green paint. I assume just to try and camouflage them from air attacks.
  11. Can anyone tell me what type they have used and are using? And where are the best places to pick them up? Thanks.

  14. In the Notifications and Email section of Modify Profile it lists my current Topic subscriptions which includes this topic. Yet I haven't recived any notification of a reply/replys, but if I click the notify button at the top of this topic it asks me if I want to cancel my topic notification subscrption. Ive also tried cancelling all my topic notifications and then relisting them but that hasn't worked either.
  15. I don't seem to be getting them even tho Ive ticked the boxes, I used to get them up until a month ago. Can anyone help? Thanks. Tyler.
  16. Hi Rlangham, didn't realise you were part of that display. We were sitting opposite you in the Sand and Green Landie. I'll post my pics up later.
  17. If that happened he would be subject to a pile of H&S cr*p bigger than a King Tiger.
  18. I'll ring my local gun shop and see who they use. No they don't either, I get mine from fairs and shows to.
  19. The small print for UPS says no.

  22. Nice find N.O.S., thats Bovington tank museum's yard isn't it? Do they still have that 2pndr Marmon Herrington in there?
  23. Thank you very much for that.
  24. Steve, you've certainly captured the atmosphere of Legends, as you say it really is a must for anyone into oily nuts n bolts. Its a shame the P40B didn't display, I don't know why they left it till the 27th June to unpack it.
