I just joined at the behest of Gerard Page and Nick Thomas, with whom I have been administrating the Facebook group on WW2 Jeeps Rebuilt by the British Army. I am also co-administrator of the Willys MB/Ford GPW Italia group. My background is mainly aviation, but as a professional historian and writer I am very keen on jeep history rather than mechanics. As a result I am trying to develop a better understanding of postwar jeep use, which represents a considerable part of the history of our vehicles, of their survival and of their deviations from notional factory standard. My own jeep is an October 1944 Willys, used for about ten years by the Italian Police. It was civilianized in 1962 and has been in continuous use since then. I started posting as "Newdriver" on G503 while I was still looking for a jeep, but my real name is Gregory Alegi.
