  1. I have just sent some scans of the book via PM
  2. Yes according to my reference 13/18th Hussars are shown as the Armoured Car Regiment at Corps level in 1957. Unfortunately somebody is standing in front of the other mudguard!
  3. With reference to the first question there is a picture of a Mark III AEC Armoured Car serving with C Squadron 13/18th Hussars heavy troop (with 1st British Corps badge on mud guard) in 1956 /57 include in 'The Royal Armoured Corps in the Cold War 1946 - 1990' Pen and Sword 2016.
  4. The last picture of the 'briefing' also includes Meadows 27KVA generators but no sign of th Yellow Fever fire control radars. It is interesting that within a few years all of this 'heavy metal' was replaced by Blowpipe and 109 Land Rovers
  5. John, Only just spotted your post, the set has been sold. Richard
  6. Tickets arrived for Wartime in the Vale at the begining of June, I am planning to go in my Champ so I hope it is happening!
  7. Iam looking to sell my A41 No. 1 Man pack radio complete with associated accessories and Murphy carrier. I purchased it a few years ago as a complete set with all parts ticked off against the Complete Equipment Schedule when is was sold off as surplus. I also have an original battery in it's packaging which I assume is dud. Looking fror £175ono with collection from the Wolverhampton area or I might be able to take it to Wartime in the Vale. Send me a PM if your are interested Thanks Richard
  8. Others will know more but the shield badge with Lions is Cyprus District. The title above the RASC blue/yellow marking is not clear. Richard
  9. The attachment of the 50mm ball is just temporary to move the unladen trailer a short distance to where it will be stored. The hitch is also bolted through a spacer filling in the towing ring and the position of the 2 bolts nearest the trailer stops rotation. I intend to tow the trailer behind my Champ with the standard military tow jaw and in future behind my Lightweight with a NATO hitch, I am just try to work out a means of applying the brakes via a breakaway cable
  10. B-Series Thanks. I think if the trailer is braked you have to fit a cable that applies and causes the trailer brakes to remain on. The design of the braking system on a Mark 1 trailer appears to make it difficult to keep the brakes on, I just wondered how others had approached this.
  11. Can anybody help me with suggestions of the modifications required to make a 'breakaway' cable work on a Mark 1 Sankey hitch? I assume removing the brake shoes and limiting the load does not make it an unbraked trailer? (Then I would just need a secondary coupling to retain the trailer to the towing vehicle) Thanks Richard
  12. Could X refer to the 10th month of 1906 in this case? There seems to be a pattern in all of the other plates shown?
  13. All mountings for pick- axe heads I have seen have been oval as it stops the head rotating. has this been changed at some time in the vehicles past? The pick axe head looks standard.
  14. Background does not look like Slapton or surrounding area.
  15. B Series. Thanks for the response, I have manged to get the correct cable from a fellow Champ Owners club member who had 2. Richard
  16. Can someone explain how the ATU is fixed into the wing mounted box? My box has sleeved mounting studs that align with the mounting holes on the ATU casting but are a smaller diameter. Is there a stepped rubber mount that goes over the studs? Thanks Richard
  17. The first vehicle belongs to 2nd AGRA = Army Group Royal Artillery See Wiki link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_Army_Group_Royal_Artillery If Wiki is correct it might be the answer you are looking for. Richard
  18. I am looking for the correct trailer lead that connects the Warner socket on a Champ to my Mk1 Sankey trailer. I have FV166462/9 which is 10ft 6" long, I think I am looking for a shorter lead FV166462/4 which is around 5ft 6" long. Could anybody confirm? Also does anybody know which vehicle / trailer combination FV166462/9 goes with - it might be up for sale! (FV166462/9 has the following number on it's packing LV6/MT4 2590-99-803-5876) Thanks Richard
  19. 06BB47 is pictured in Pat Ware's In National Service book as a gate guard with a London District badge
  20. Following this thread with interest. Were early Lightweights fitted with Grey vinyl seats? In the distant future I will need some seats for my early 1969 2A (42FG92). Thanks
  21. Thanks to the link to the earlier posts. This seems very similar to another trailer mentioned = 69FG52. It does seem odd that trailers with all the features of a wartime 10cwt trailers were being issued with new registrations in the late 1960's. It has all the signs of being military with convoy lights etc. Is it possible that they were held in store from the late 1940's before being registered? You would have thought that by the 1960's any new trailer would have been constructed on the standard Sankey or Brockhouse chassis?
  22. I have just been made aware of a Jointers trailer that may be up for sale. The construction appears wartime but the 6/VEH contact number would indicate post war? The back panel has 70FG13 stencilled on it. Is it possible to date the trailer? Thanks
  23. Just spotted this on ebay if anybody is interested. No connection to seller. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-1962-BRITISH-ARMY-SPARE-PARTS-MANUAL-COMMER-TRUCK-15cwt-4x2-Q2-Mk-III/124568559026?hash=item1d00dd5db2:g:uzgAAOSwsbhgJtl0
  24. Last MOT in March 2020 shows mileage as 43150 however the advert states 26720
