  1. I have one of these trailers, mine is a Brockhouse 5ton trailer they only brake on the rear axle they had two types overrun brakes and Vacuum brakes mine is Vacuum brakes there is a actuation chamber under the chassie of the trailer which operates the brakes i tow it with my Leyland Hippo like most vehicles of this age they were vacuum over hydraulic systems the pipe from the trailer screws straight on to the connection on the lorry. as the trailer is historic it doesn't need plating as long as you are not using it for hire or reward. I wrote to the DVLA to ask if i could load my Loyd carrier on the trailer and take it to shows; They then put me in touch with the IVS (international Vehicle Standards)  whoe sent me a letter saying they do not have a problem with towing the trailer with my Leyland Hippo on the public road loaded with my historic Loyd carrier as long it is not for hire or reward. But of course the brakes have to work as it was originally designed and also the lorry doesn't go any faster than 30 mph

John is wright i own a Leyland Hippo the pressure is not excessive i suspect you are getting bounce out of the tyre i run on the same tyre if they site for a couple of days when you first start off you will get a bounce from the front steering once you have done a mile or two and the tyre will warm and go to its normal shape

  6. a friend of mine has one for sale here in Ireland ,it will take a bit of work and expense to move it back to the UK ,contact me and I can put you in touch with him

I have one I have had it for a couple of years and restored it I love it yes they are slow but are reliable if you get one make sure the the fuel injection pump is not seized or have water in them if its been sat around for ages they don't like that. The vehicles start on 24volt and lights are 12volt keep the lorry regular greased especially the clutch and water pump.none of them go fast 28 to 30 mph max you can turn the transfer box round but how often do you drive it? and you might get it to 35 to 40 mph ? there is not much different between the 2A and 2b wheels air filter that's about all. I hope this helps and the war time ones engine are E175 engine the later 50 to 60 have the 600 engine.

    Hope this helps

  7. We are going to make all the seats. 15 in total for 4 projects.

We have pattens for the 2 C shaped pices under the side seats but don't have a patten for the support tube that goes under the inside front corner of the side seats.

You should be Ok to use an old casting as a patten and cast directly. Just fill any drilled holes with filler and take to a local foundry.

This is what Alastair did with these parts.

I have had small parts cast from origanal bits with very good results.

    Peter.

Thanks Peter i will try this just need to find a local foundry

  8. Well done looking good made a nice job of fabricating the seat supports, will you build the other three one behind driver the other two either side of driver? you are doing a great job.

my Loyd was transported by a haulier the other day not to happy they bent the tilt frame work and broken three of the cast iron supports where the hoops site in split them and shattered one of them any one know were i can get some more??:-( or were i can get some new one cast

  9. I have a 6pdr Mk2 gun with L43 barrel available. Fairly complete just missing a couple of parts like the emergency sight. Gun and action are uncut, so appropriate licence would be required. Has firing mech. with it. Contact me for further discussions if you would like to make an offer on this piece, Cheers Andrew.

Hi Andrew im interested please message me with more details and photo

    Thanks

    Richard
