  1. I have a one of these that appears to be originally painted black, 1941 dated iirc. not sure whether to get it re-done in green or brown but definitely want to change the liner at some point for a 6 7/8 from a 7.
  2. That I can remember I've only been to that one and the museum in the former Hartenstein Hotel, if I go again (but without the army like the last 5 times I've visited) I'll have a look further afield than the generic places we visit there.
  3. If it's the one with the clay impression of airborne troops scrambling out of their graves then that's the one.
  4. I've been a few times with my Corps over the past seven years but mainly stuck to the Oosterbeek and Arnhem centre areas, this was on my 3rd visit when we strayed a little bit from the normal scheme of manouvres. There's another small museum and a commonwealth war grave out that way too, can't remember the name of the museum.
  5. There's a war memorial in Holland, close to one of the drop zones made from the wheel strut of a Horsa that landed there.
  6. I have a spare corner angle I can pop in the post if you want? don't have any spare straights though.
  7. Tents 3 & 6 reserved. Tents 1,2,4 and 5 still available.
  8. as far as I can remember 1's in fairly decent state I think, w869andy has dibs on that, the other 5 have the odd small hole with obligatory black nasty/sniper tape patch ups. I'll have a better idea when I drag them out tomorrow to photograph them.
  9. Roger that, just remembered I've another one tucked at the back of the shed. I shall aim to get them dug out tomorrow when I get back to Welsh Wales and get some pictures posted up there's six available overall now.
  10. West Camp former married quarters MOD St Athan I'm only in on weekends and leave periods at the minute, this weekend I'll be in Friday and Sunday and part of Saturday.
  11. I have 5 9x9 canvasses floating about at home surplus to my requirements, I was wondering whether there would be any interest in them on here or not before I dig them out to take pictures and list them for sale. Also several dozen packets of Hexymethalenatetramine.
  12. Print screen from the JSP for drinking implements as at 2013 in regards to the issue of it. From what I've seen in service that's not always adhered to.
  13. The type with the rip-stop outer and the O.G are the only types I don't have. I've got two with the quilted lining, I think just one with the gaberdine outer but full faux pile lining, DPM Gore-Tex, DDPM Gore-Tex and MTP Gore-Tex (black lined)
  14. One other question with the DPM cold weather hats what's the difference between the one's with the quilted lining and the ones that are all pile lined?
  15. Very informative, I always learn something new on here.
  16. He is indeed Army Air Corps, 652 (Freddy the Frog) Sqn. Was 33 Sqn at Benson back then? I've only ever seen the arctic hats in DP which is what had me questioning it's origins. Going off the other pictures I have I'm confident this was taken in BATUS when 1 Regt AAC had Gazelles. Cheers for clarification on this, Dave
  17. I mentioned about it a while ago in one of my other threads, which at this time eludes me, and did say I would upload the image of the hat in question, which at that time eluded me. Now that I have located all the ancient photo's in my collection I have located said picture. Now to my eyes it looks very much like the standard issue Deputy Dawg/Dangerous Brian hat except for the lack of camouflage. As these pictures were in a rather disorganised state of affairs and it's taken at night I can't tell whether it's from the training areas of Germany or the back end of nowhere on the prairie in BATUS. Any ideas on what this hat is?
  18. This looks fairly similar. http://www.stewartsmilitaryantiques.com/us-post-wwii-pattern-airborne-jump-wings-sterling-clutchback.34436.archive.htm
  19. I was wondering if these ever got badged up by soldiers/units as there seem to be no pictures of anybody ever using these, at least not that I've seen or can find save on painting with what looks like troops with middle parkas on pinterest. Or if anybody knows of any pictures anywhere of these parkas being used in service? I have two in my stash of military kit and am contemplating badging one up, but only if this was a done thing and as a unit that would've done so. Also on a side note my two are different in that the one has the size label on both the hood and main body with all the measurements printed in and dated '53, no NSN etc, whilst the other only has all the relevent on the hood and then simply size 5 on the main body then an NSN, manufacturer and contract number (which I would assume as putting it firmly in the period between Korea being long over but some time before the "Falklands" parka came in) although oddly it has a white lining in it, is that a thing with certain manufacturers or one that escaped being dyed green?
  20. Well the vast experience of knowledge on here has cleared up my confusion on this garment.
  21. Bit odd that they'd have one made personally just to have it without a wired hood, but then I suppose soldiers are an odd breed. I shall have to keep a sharp eye out for anything that comes with the odd button used to replace the original missing one.
