  1. Last few bits now arrived, super chuffed with the inspection lamp 😀
  2. Tom. I hope you are well! Thank you for your kind words. I purchased most of my nuts and bolts from Nooky’s nuts, which can be found online. Spares have been found all over, including eBay and Facebook, persistence pays off! I have box of bits left over so give me a shout if you need anything. I just can’t wait to finish it now!
  3. Thanks Gents, really helpful! with a good wind it might be finished by next week 😀
  4. The last push to finish the Matchless I have finally found an original DC40D inspection lamp which is currently in transit. Unfortunately after all of the care and attention in clean the fuel tank internally being left empty has caused it to start to rust inside. I am thinking either fill it with fuel, leave then drain, or it’s a tank off job and tank sealer kit? Any advice would be most welcomed. Secondly I cannot find definitely the correct transfers that should be applied to the bike? And assisting would be greatefully received!
  5. Foot peg rubber on, lower fuel line finished and some panel tank instrument screws made. I up-cycled the panel screws from some old Military Cad plated screws which I purchased, no idea what they are from but a little quirk of the build…..
  6. So nearly there now, but some more issues thrown up 🙈 ’Flying M’s’ fitted, petrol tap rebuilt, fuel pipe made and knees grips to fuel tank now on. The metal plates that the rubber knee grips fit to were ill fitting, after several hours or fettling we finally have a result!
  7. It’s just dawned on me that I started this project almost a year to the day 🙈
  8. Now the ‘flying’ M’s have arrived I have a little task for today!
  9. Hi all. I am having some problems locating the correct fuel line banjo bolt and banjo eye for the bike, can anyone steer me in the right direction, please? Thank you!
  10. Thanks Leggy! Yes I am pleased with progress, itching to get it finished now….
  11. Another productive day on the G3. The rear tail light has now been resprayed, twin pin converted and fitted. I have managed to mix a second batch of paint which I am very happy with so the tank has been painted, splash guard on and tank fitted! The saddle nose seems awfully tight on the tank but it’s all fitted now! Now starting to turn my attention to the instruments and final bits of wiring!
  12. Its surprising what you can find in an old petrol tank…..🙈 Walnut shells and a nest 😬 The tank in now much cleaner internally now. Nearly time for paint!
  13. Looks great Ron, the elbow grease has been worth it!
  14. Thanks Lex. Mine is brass, it came fitted with the tank from the States. the repro one doesn’t look bad at all
  15. Frustratingly apart from the paint situation I only have 3/4 of a DC40 inspection lamp with just the knob missing. I assume knobs only very rarely come up for sale if any, so it’s either bite the bullet and by another original, but they seem to be a small fortune, or temporarily fit a repro one 😬
  16. My paint has become lumpy and almost looks like it has split. I have tried stirring it thinning it but to know avail. I have filtered the spray gun but it’s still through small lumps/imperfections onto the parts being sprayed. I am using a Zinfos paint (Manor Systems?) which it better know as industrial container paint etc…..it give a great finish but this last little bit does not want to play. It’s such a shame is I have just three bits left to paint 🙈
  17. Thank you gents! I have gone to put a top coat of paint over it but unfortunately my paint has gone off. 😬 This was my own special blend so it’s going to be some trial an error making up an acceptable batch just to paint the last few things 🙈
  18. So with a little bit of persistence I have now managed to satisfactory remedy the over size light switch hole within the instrument panel. I used the bezel from an old Miller pork pie style tail lamp and adjusted it to suit my requirements. Not perfect but more than acceptable.
