  1. I was browsing through the IWM archives and stumbled upon these. Not many registration numbers visible, just one partial for a Humber ___K08, and Saracen 83BA31, __BA09, 82BA85, 82BA87 and Land Rover 04DM24 . Still, thought it might be of interest. The depot still exists, although in much modified form. Although captioned as Takali, the area is in Attard, 2 miles south of Takali.   2. Hi all, my name is Nick and I'm from just outside of Bath in the UK. Have got hold of an old SUMB that had its motor and gearbox removed, but was, apart from a little cab rot, in fantastic shape. Have been working on it to get it back to a useable state rather than a pristine example of the breed, and maybe improve its rather sad face, will post up some pics and maybe a little info later as time permits, however, purists should probably look away now!

Hi Keith, I got involved in wading trials with MVEE - we originally did a comparison trial between a County Tractor and a Muir Hill 171 for use on the Landing Craft Logistics - decided that the County was too light and done full wading trials on the Muir Hill. It was the most fun that I ever had whilst actually getting paid for it! Attached images show the Muir Hill 171 on beach trials and the vehicle as it entered service (we purchased 3). In order to meet the requirements, Muir Hill had to lengthen the wheelbase to stop the annoying habit of the nose rearing up whilst shunting trailers

  5. At the rear of the tank, there are two flanges that protrude either side beyond the the chassis rear plate, these are where the idler wheel housings bolt on to the chassis. Because the chassis tended to flex in this area, the joint between the rear chassis plate and the flange tended to crack, the solution to this problem was the incorporation of a strengthening rod, my job for today. I have drilled and tapped each end of the rod so that the centre attaching bolt goes through the idler wheel housing, through the chassis

  6. The tool arrived in the post this morning. The inlet valve caps had been soaking in penetrating oil for a few days now, but of all the fasteners on the engine these gave me the most concern. They were as tight AF and were completely bespoke and unique. These really needed to come apart with as little grief as possible. The tool fitted a treat. No fettling required and no slack. An extension bar was needed, but 7 of the 8 made that satisfying crack as they undone. The last one needed a little heat, but soon gave up resistance. All 8 are now undone. Typically, all valv
