Former Belfast Fire Brigade Tea Van - Austin K2 - GLE 54

Now in preservation and being extensively restored, it was believed that this was originally a London Fire Brigade vehicle but the LFB have confirmed that it wasn't? I suspect it may have been a centrally purchased War Ministry vehicle. Can anyone tell me its' history OR point me in the right direction to find its' story.

I was under the impression rightly or wrongly that most Austin K2 NAAFI Wagons are post-war conversions of war-time Fire Tenders which pulled Pumps.

These conversions were carried out for the NFS.   Yours appears to be the standard design so I assume its origins are the same.   A lot of ex-NFS vehicles were later used by Fire Brigades so quite how definite the LFB can be is questionable.

I don't know if this helps, GLE is a  London (Wimbledon) registration.
