We nearly had one from the proving ground at Monegeeta, but it went to the engineers museum. Out of all the trucks I have looked at on the forum, the Diamond T with trailer and Yeramba, out the front of the pub is my dream. One day? v8 bubba Posted October 1, 2008 Share Posted October 1, 2008 my work took me to port talbot yesterday as was driving my scania past sarn services on the m4 i saw the flashing lights of what i first thaught was a crane however it was in fact a large red van escorting somthing as i looked a head i could see a mint looking diamond t wrecker driving at around 45ish painted in red with what looked like a county fire service crest on the doors the only other markings were transport div underneathe the crest the van escorting it also had the same crest and was a curant fire sevice vehicle the t was running a treat sounded very healthy does anyone know of this one and can it realy still be owned by a south wales council i just wish i could have got pics Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think it was the one once owned by Bradbury’s of Stoke on Trent. Anyone know what happened to it? It's ripe for restoration. I do like the lifting gear – not going to break that in a hurry! Is the cargo body the same as the T968 one but of course longer, or is it a special body adapted to carry pontoons? Is it Steel, wood or both depending on building year? Thierry. I used to own this truck a few years ago and its great to see them still going strong! This truck featured in a 'Time Team' programme in 1998 during the recovery of a B-17G Flying fortress from marshland in Norfolk and was driven by Tony Robinson! Hi all, new to this site. Yes that truck is the Bradbury's one. My Grandad bought it at a MOD sale in 1961 and converted it to a wrecker - the crane was a one off custom built job and was built to last! It was in our fleet for 23 years before it was sold at auction again - I was only 2 years old at this point btw:-D I saw the photos on webshots of it looking sad and neglected and would love to buy and restore her but just don't have the room:-( We have lots of old pics of the truck in it's prime, will dig them out later. First one shows the DT on one of it's first jobs, still with military plates and paint, recovering a crashed Invincible artic carrying girders on the A34. It really should be restored. It reminds me of the 981 my Dad used to drive. I tried to buy it but the new owners decided not to sell and it eventually rotted away in their yard.
