Smithy
Spotted this one at the Belvoir Castle Steam Festival back in 2005 and have recently found the pics from that show. I haven't seen it around anywhere since.

Rangie
Could a MOD have a go at fixing some broken links/tidy up the early galleries please? Love Matadors, and there's an unloved recovery one near me........... I try to buy it every couple of years :cool2: Alec
16svt
The broken links are almost all from a member who was banned (Antarmike). Shame, as he was a font of knowledge and had an incredible collection of Matador photos. A nice bloke as well.
FV1604A
Talking about nice fellas. If you come on Denny Thompson at one of the many shows he attends, go up and have a word with him. He has/had two restored Matadors and probably another few for spares. He's an excellent fellow and an absolute fount of knowledge. He used to have a beautiful Diamond T 980/981 hard top too, amongst other things. I have to be another voice to bring back Antar Mike as his knowledge is now a sad loss to the input of this forum. Surely some amical solution could have been thrashed out to keep everyone happy? Apologies if this goes slightly off topic. Regards, Mike. 8_10 Brass Cleaner
Not sure if this one has appeared in the gallery as not actually been through it all!! Currently stored at the same place my Martian is. ex recovery vehicle possibly somewhere in Wales, and at some point been in a ditch. My truck is hiding under the tarpaulin on the right. Is this the Ex Western Welsh one Steve Richards had? N.O.S.
Did anyone on here buy the Matador, restored as a Wynn's tackle truck, which was in the online auction at Bradford ending this morning? Looks like a MJ body on the back.

brianthesnail96
Anyone know what it went for? No, but IIRC the starting bid was £12.5k so if it did sell, it wasn't cheap. Is it definitely a genuine Wynns one?
trevor pitman
SDW948J was fleet number 112. Aquired by Wynns Nov 1970. So it appears to be the real deal
johnwardle
This AEC was used as the Duxford Museum Rransport many years ago, not sure what chassic was used, but teh driver appears to be sitting sideways on half way down the rear of the truck. There were 2 of these miniature Matadors built for Duxford by Lion Cars. The chassis were purpose built, the engine & transmission are from a BL mini and the axles are Vauxhall/Bedford HA. Both still exist and are currently 12 miles from where I live. I keep asking the owner when they will come out of hibernation but never get a straight answer. The driver is sitting across the vehicle, and as you can imagine they are not very easy to drive
Scammell4199
My Matador. This was a good few years ago the day i bought it, unfortunatly it still looks the same since we are concentrating on the Scammell resto at the moment. N.O.S.
Nice! Note the heavier cast front axle centre section - my Mat had the same, and these two are the only ones I've ever come across. Rumoured to have been made specifically for the heavy armoured command Mats, but I remain to be convinced.
