Recommended Posts

I already have my fantasy barn, I live in it (I am not joking, as many of you know) I just need one more toy to make up my ten vehicles

1944 FORD GPW JEEP

1942 DIAMOND T 968 CARGO

194? FRUEHAUF 8ton ENGINEERS TRAILER

1943 CATERPILLAR D4 2T

1942 WHITE M3 HALFTRACK

1944 MACK NO7 PRINE MOVER

194? POINTER WILLAMETTE M9 TRAILER

1942 M4 A4 SHERMAN TANK

194? ALLIS CHALMERS M4 HIGH SPEED TRACTOR (coming soon)

I think No 10 would either be a Harley WLA, Dodge WC57 Command Car or Ward-La-France wrecker.

Jim.

  • 1 year later...

Stumbled upon this thread so thought I’d give it a go… all fantasy of course

Begin with an armoured car, a 'Roller' of WW1 pattern ex middle east. This would be a goer complete with original sand in every crack and cranny.

A Crossley Indian pattern armoured car – just for something different and also a goer. Comes with a basket and snake to frighten the curious.

Back to WW1:

A genuine wartime Holt caterpillar as used on the western front. It goes when IT feels like it which isn’t often at nearly 100 years of age.

Also, a Durkopp artillery tractor. Has never gone – will have to manufacture all the parts I need. Currently sunk up to its axles in the back yard. Everyone loves a wreck.

Three WW1 lorry chassis – kitted out for different purposes – lorry/troop transport/anti-aircraft

  1. De Dion – lovely truck to drive.
  2. Bussing – unique and a troop transport of huge proportions. Runs like a Swiss watch.
  3. Tilling Stevens – a unique ‘high-voltage’ vehicle

From between the wars:

First a Thornycroft Hathi gun tractor – because they came to Australia and my grandfather was in charge of testing them for suitability to Australian conditions

Second a Scammell with tank transporter attached for carting around one of the really early British or German tanks. You always need something on the drawing board – even if it is fantasy.
