Fantasy Barn

If you had a fantasy barn where you could store 10 Military Vehicles in, what would those 10 vehicles be? Money and resources no object, but make it realistic - no Tiger tanks. Also a trailer counts as a vehicle. If you want to keep your presemt vehicle, then include this as well.

To start, here are my 10 vehicles.

Ford WOT2

Ford WOA2

British Wartime Jeep with a 19 set fitted

British Wartime 1/2 ton trailer

Sherman Firefly tank

AEC Armoured command vehicle (with all the radios & interior fittings)

BSA M20 (Well I'll need an out-rider)

British Universal carrier (Bren Carrier)

Austin or Hillman tilly

M8 Armoured car (ex-British Army, of course)

Just wish I had the resources and money to buy them all. I can afford 2 at present, and that's my lot.

I was in a fantasy barn somewhere in Sussex a few years back looking at a 101 for a buyer. Guy opened one of his barns and it was full of fully restored kit. Chefitain, Abbot, MK, Gainsborough Tractor (absolutely mint!), Morris Comercial plus a load of other post war British stuff. I didn't get to see his other barn but I was gobsmacked by what I did see.

After careful thought, here goes;

Bedford QLR with Command body

Cromwell tank

BSA WM20

Daimler Dingo

Austin K2 ambulance

Universal Carrier

Studebaker US6

Bedford OY

and a couple of PW's :-D

Thornycroft LMD Trenching Machine

Land Rover Perentie 6x6 mobile workshop

Apart fom one item nothing too surprising there Richard but the Thorneycroft :schocked:

Actually I wouldn't mind one of those myself but I don't think it would be doing many shows, more like being worked to death on drainage jobs.

Hi Degsy,

Well I used to repair them in Workshops, they usually needed a lot of work. They fascinated me, in how they worked, the drive being matched to the cutting speed, etc. and we always did functional test digs with them. They can be used to dig more than trenches, gun pits can be done as well. And to drive them, they are very reminscent to a WW2 3 tonner.

As for the Perentie 6x6...........that is another, I have experience of, and the Mobile Workshop version is pure magic. I took an Australian Army driving test in one......long story ;-)

Sean,

I know exactly who that is and agree it is mind boggling what he has there.

Hi Richard, you've been very fortunate to drive so many interesting vehicles, I would really like to try trenching with one of those Thorneycrofts, as for the Perentie, I've driven Land Rovers for more than 50 years both for work competition and pleasure so obviously I'd love to try a Perentie
