Colour ans stich pattern on the leather seem odd. Is it British?

Beat me to it, Tony.

I'n assuming its 'canvas', certainly back in stiffened, (or is it a just the way its photo'd) and are they outdoor paving slabs its pictured on ? (trying to get an idea of size).

A gas mask bag for a hoss?

Yes well done.

I saw this at Sabre Sales, Southsea together with a lot of unissued mule pack saddlery. I spent a morning there recently, I had quite forgotten the vast & varied stock Nick has buried away down there.

I've seen the German Corneto type things but never one like this. If the Mule saddle is in good nick that is worth a lot to the right people.
