Squirrel-Sport asked about this but did not seem to get a reply. I have seen folk mention use of GL1 gear oil, rather than GL4 that I would reach for.  What is the consensus re oils for the gearboxes and diffs?

If the vehicle is operating under normal light load conditions GL1 oils without EP adatives are quite adequate,for  use in manual gearboxes and spiral beval differentials. Synthetic GL4 and 5 oils would be used in sustained high load high speed operations,
