T8Hants 10 Posted September 14 My newly running Triumph 3HW, was actually sold off in 1947, but had she remained in service in the UK, would she have displayed a tax disc and if so, what type? Thanks in anticipation.........Gareth
Ron 19 Posted September 14 I'm not actually sure if post war WD vehicles were civilian taxed? But if so, Greg will have one in his repertoire. Interesting site anyway. http://www.poplargreg.com/ Ron
Nick Johns 16 Posted September 14 (edited) If the bike was sold in 1947 and then Civilian registered it would have been issued with a road tax disc, Edited September 14 by Nick Johns

No, vehicles with a Military registration number Post War did not have road tax discs Edited September 14 by Nick Johns
MB1944 10 Posted September 14 A friend of mine who was in the TA in the 1980s was pulled for not displaying a tax disc on a Foden wrecker coming out of the Birkenhead tunnel. When asked by the cop who owned the vehicle, his response was Her Majesty the Queen. Classic!!!
jenkinov 11 Posted September 15 There are some very nice reproduction war service tax discs available ....but whilst pretty these appear to have been used on civilian vehicles used by home defence forces of similar ....e.g a car or motorbike used by ARP military vehicles had no tax discs..? Ron 19 Posted September 15 Well funnily enough, at least some WW2 RAF vehicles had 'Defense of the Realm' tax discs as seen in this original that was sent to me by Greg Powell. Also can be seen on this RAF Norton Big 4. So I've copied the idea with Greg's repro discs on my RAF's Big 4 and WD/CO. Ron
matchlesswdg3 12 Posted September 15 I have one of those on the Matchless, but TBH, it was mainly because I had a nice otherwise redundant brass holder! Its just "pudding".
