Enfield1940
This relates to a helmet rather than a vehicle, but I hope you’ll forgive me as this seems a good place to ask... I’ve acquired a West German paratrooper helmet and I’m trying to ID what colour it was painted in for restoration purposes. Having looked at a RAL colour deck, I think it is probably one of the following: RAL 7011 Eisengrau RAL 7012 Basaltgrau RAL 7015 Schiefergrau RAL 7016 Anthrazitgrau RAL 7024 Graphitgrau Were any of the above an official colour used by the Bundeswehr for vehicles and / or equipment? It might help narrow it down. Thanks, Mark
7SigTp
Hello, i think the color was RAL 6014. Standard for equipment at the time. The new color is RAL 6031. Best Kay
Enfield1940
In the end I went for RAL 7016, although not for the helmet pictured.
7SigTp
I like the RAL 7016 👍 The helmets on the photo, i think it is the old oliv, but i´m not a specialist in para and special forces Helmets. Best Kay
Enfield1940
Danke. That’s an interesting picture. The BW Fallschirmjager seem to have used a variety of M38 style helmets before they settled on the M1 type FJ helmet. My one is definitely dark blue and not olive. Dimensionally it is the same as a GSG9 helmet, but has recessed M38 style liner attachment bolt holes.
