In that case, when I finish my Bedford QL portee, will I be legally allowed to drive it MOT exempt with the 6pdr on the back cargo bed or will the 6pdr have to be physically bolted to the cargo bed, therefore becoming a fixed part of the lorry.

Moving forward with the truck, several items which I wanted to return the old girl to how I want her to be came up for sale, so now I have a lot of work ahead of me over the next couple of months.

First up a full winch setup, pto, shaft, handle, floor plate and spring holders.

With a winch sorted and ready to go on I started looking for a body, hoops, bows etc

I found a body over in Essex, an all steel one with the sides and seats, all the wood is rotten and the body needs work but I’ll blast it and replace the floor later this month.

Hardest part was figuring out how to transport it, I made a frame to sit on my trailer which would hold it above the wheels, off I went to Essex’s and here is the body back at my workshop.

A friend found me a brand new rear canvas front and rear section plus chain covers and the seller also had hoops and bows to match, so that is the complete set sorted I also managed to pick up an extra tailgate! Bonus

Gave the stuff an epoxy prime and then top coat in dark olive.

Need to to order up some of the fabric for the fuel tank straps.

The tool flap lid needs the top lip replaced but I’ll do that once I’ve blasted and fixed the body!

Pulled the sides, seats and front sections from the body, these will be for sale if anyone wants a set, wood is rotten but the metal work looks good.

Yes thanks, the way I see it I have an hour in the morning before work, lunch time and an hour after work each day to get on with all the little bits, hopefully I can get everything ready before I pull the old body off and fit the restored one.

Had to have a reshuffle today! Too many toys

trailer came off the truck and the new-old body went on the back so I can move about better.

I had to rebuild a zenith carb as I’ve got a running issue, it’s either the carb or fuel line for I has collapsed (fuel tank has been restored) so off we go.

First a degrease in the tank, then a strip and replace all the little bits etc new gasket and I ring seals ready to go! Now to buy a flexi hose at Malvern on the weekend.
