hi can any one help, I have just bought two Saxon patrol armoured cars. There are a few bits missing like a drivers seat, a lift pump for a Cummins 5.9 diesel . The front and rear wings with the lights on .

could use some info and internal pictures .

have 180 military vehicles but know little about Saxons and road legalities.

Saxons seem to have been built using some common parts with a Bedford KM. Spares should be fairly easily obtained for the Cummins engine they seem to be a popular engine to shoehorn between many different types of chassis rails.

Not sure you can call a SAXON (APC) an armoured car as it's intended role was troop transport under armour. The vehicle is I believe based on a Bedford frame and running gear with either a Bedford 500 diesel (early versions) or latterly a Cummins BT 6-91 litre diesel with a few acquiring Peak one-man turrets as fitted to some 432's with a GPMG  - desirable all the same

The first ones into service had the Bedford 500 engine, I think they were for infantry units as I recollect. Later on, another version came out for Internal Security (ie for use in NI) and this was the one with the Cummins engine. Thinking about it now, the engine change may have come about after Bedford stopped truck production.

i was in bosnia with the duke of boots in 94. we had saxons based on bedford tm's, while in theatre they were retrofitted with the peak gpmg turret. bloody useless offroad but i still have a soft spot for them. i keep an eye out for my old saxon 98KF95 but not seen it yet.

if i remember right there were a few saxons on RAF Tain bombing range

98KF95 will probably be in Jordan with the rest of the Saxons. They were lined up at Withams for a while.
