andym 21 Posted December 25, 2017 I'm confused - do you really mean RB44? They're based on the Renault Dodge 50. Andy

Andy Reynolds Boughton were making their 4x4 truck with a Ford A-series cab up until about 1984, when Ford discontinued the A-series. It was then that Renault and RB got together, so the poster must be referring to a pre-1984 RB 4x4. I think the Army Fire Service may have had some RB fire trucks with the Ford cab, I recollect seeing one.

Cornishbloke 11 Posted December 28, 2017 The "real" designation is the Reynolds Boughton Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV). Looks like they had a 6 litre V8. There seem to be groups preserving them as fire engines. Might be worth a google

Charliefarley12b 0 Posted December 25, 2018 These double cab versions as fire tenders had a small block Chevy 5.7 v8 mounted on a 3 speed auto box as standard.ifyou wish to see one I live in Wantage and have one in my barn, also running a 2 door version with a v6 Essex engine every week.
Peakrec 10 Posted December 26, 2018 (edited) They also fitted the 4236 3.8 litre Perkins Diesel in them with the 3 speed auto box. top speed 46 MPH. I had one. Had water tank in the back, fitted with a dynamic brake on the prop shaft to help. 11.00 x 16 tyres. Brakes took some bleeding, had to remove the front back plates and rotate so air flowed out. Brake master cylinder, I used a LWB land rover and made an adaptor plate as same bore and stroke. Mine was similar to the red one in photo up the page.
