Repairing aluminum dashboard

Here a way of repairing that might also be interesting for you. The aluminium dash of my 1925 Citroen has more the apearance of s swiss cheese. There were some 24 useless holes. I cant weld aluminium so i had to find another way. So i tried riveting it. Most of the holes were under 6mm and i had a 6mm rod of aluminium. The dash is 4mm thick so i cut a 5 mm piece from the rod. Drilled the holes to 6mm to a have straight and clean edges in there. Fix the dash with a clamp to the anvil, put the bit of rod in the hole and hammerd it with a bodyshop hammer. Very carefully to get even with the original dash. It worked surprisingly well. Have to get a few bigger rods for the larger holes.
