Natcar
I had to make some clearance cuts in my mount for the Browning 1919A4 in 308 caliber. I believe that the clearance issue comes from the fact that the original was in 30.06 and the 308 used a feed pawl on the left side that aligns the round with the bolt. The mount works great now, The remote trigger is really cool. After fitting it in the turret I am going to remove it and refinish the mount. Newcoregon
Hi; I'm puzzled as my Ferret came with a deactivated LMG of the modern British Bren style chain gun. It fits the mount perfectly. I would prefer the 1919. So the mounts are different? Newc in Oregon
AmmoMan
Too late now but if you remove the retaining pin the 7.62 feed guide comes off, would save having to cut the mount.
Chris Hall
You would have been better removing the cartridge spacers as mentioned. The British never had 7.62mm Browning 1919A4s, they instead converted them to L3 for armoured vehicles. The Aussies and Canadians tried NATO conversions and gave up on the idea. Starfire
Hi; I'm puzzled as my Ferret came with a deactivated LMG of the modern British Bren style chain gun. It fits the mount perfectly. I would prefer the 1919. So the mounts are different? Newc in Oregon The earlier ones had a mount for a Browning M1919 and they later upgraded to an L37 (a vehicle mounted variant of the FN-MAG). The mounts are interchangeable, but you'll need to find a Browning one somewhere. Cheers, Terry
Natcar
This is an active, functional gun so removing the feed ramp wasn't an option. I will put some video of it firing on YouTube and share a link. I am checking on clearances for a Gatling gun crank.
CaptMax
Ammoman is correct, if you remove the cartridge guides your fine and won't need to modify your mount. I changed mine from 30-06 to 308 and it works great. See for yourself. Mine is a live gun as well.
