Sunglasses with leather edging in brown AM 294/II/P.1293. tin-Any ideas please?

Having a bit of a de clutter and came across these-any ideas please other than Im guessing they are RAF?

 

Yes, AM stand for Air Ministry.

It has the Kings Crown so before 1953.

I have a feeling they were 1930s, cant remember where I heard that though

I think they could well be 30s or early WW2. My late father's Fleet Air Arm sunglasses from the 1940s were like this but with just a single curved bridge at the top and without the leather sides. They were in a plain black japanned tin case. On the basis that kit tends to get simplified rather than complicated, I would put these as earlier.

Same as "anti-flash" specs issued in 1960's if you were working near arc or co2 / argon arc welders !
