Battle of Britain day flypast 40 Spifires & Hurricanes 15th September

Recommended Posts

Yes I spotted that, so that is 2 trips to Goodwood in 3 days for me.

Currently there are 36 Spitfires, 8 Hurricanes and 1 Blenheim on the list.

Entry to Goodwood on the day is by ticket only

Suppose they need to control numbers (it is free though)

After take off they are splitting up into groups and covering a large swathe of Southern England before landing at various places.

Red section will be flying over Trowbridge park at approx 12:45, I have been told that there will be 6 Spitfires in Red section. An ideal place to see them would be on the top level of the multi storey car park off St Stevens place. Sadly I won't be able to get there, but hopefully they will fly over Warminster on their way from Salisbury.

Didn't see Mr Beckett there - can't understand why, it's not as if the crowds were particularly large...

One thing that did jar slightly - where was all the British soft skin? Seeing the pilots being transported in Jeeps and Dodge WCs with wire cutters, invasion stars and drivers with American uniforms didn't strike the right note - it would have been great to see some Bedfords, Ford WOTs, Austins and maybe an AEC.
