I didn't install the female snaps because drilling holes means altering the shell itself. (I got comments from collectors in the Netherlands because I did this to the other liner). Enigma Posted September 21, 2008 Author Share Posted September 21, 2008 Last Friday we (Me, brother and 2 English friends) went to the monument of the Waalcrossing of the US Airbornes to capture the Nijmegen bridge. I was dressed as a 504 PIR including a helmet restored by me wearing the Skull and Bones of the 504 PIR. Also present was Francis Keefe, 82nd Airborne, 504 PIR, I Comp. He was in the first wave of Airbornes crossing the river in canvas boats. When I showed my helmet he said he also had those markings on his in WW2. On B&W photo's is clearly visible a lot of helmets had a light coloured band. Probably will I do some aging later.
