HI PEKKA l went on there site this morning for you did a check on the following registration numbers for you 86 BG 79 and

36 BG 97 they say they do not hold the records on either vehicle you could try a freedom of information request to the UK

MOD they may or may not have any information but is worth a try it costs nothing and can be done by e-mail heres the e-mail address coi-foi@mod.uk

GOOD LUCK

WALLY

orange "brain box" something to with the aux. dynamo?

It's the same regulator box as a Centurion tank. The high speed dynamo is the one that's fitted to the drive box from the meteor engine.

Really? That's interesting. Wonder if it's the same dynamo as well.

Indeedy. I'd not considered that it would be used on other things.

I've got Cromwell on the brain, the generator is on the engine for Centurion. It's definitely the same regulator though.

Lauren, out of interest, here's the charger drive gearbox and the generator itself. No ID on the generator; apparently according to the manual it's a CAV G7A24-14:

original K 9 wiring harness and switches are corroded and dead

but after couple of hours work we got engine running without harness ..good news !! ,

no smoke..idling smooth 400-500 revs/min ..sounds very similar to the ferret b60 engine

but bad news ofcource ..water pump is stuck.

we removed the fan belt ...i don´t know how bad the damage is

i don´t have any manuals yet, so whether it be remedied?

no worries, we didn´t overheated it, because the fan belt was removed

was idling about one - two minutes

the engine looks ok but the water pump is stuck

the previous owner had drained the engine and it had not been started for at least six to ten years

the oil is clear there´s no water mixture

the carburettor and the fuel pump works ok and the distributor is clear

the K 9 is 100km from here my friend´s place

need to check the engine colour again in bright light spring sun

it appears lighter than the last time last winter when was discussion about the color

Pekka, there's really only two or three ways the water pump can be stuck; the bearings are seized (unlikely, even with the time it's been standing, unless the pump was already leaking); the running faces of the seal are gummed together (quite possible, given it's stood for a long time with no water); or the impeller and the machined face on the pump body have corroded and you've lost the clearance between the impeller and body (again, quite likely).

Either way, you should be able to dismantle and rebuild. I may have a water pump here if you're really stuck. I'll see if I can scan the relevant page of the manual for you.
